COME ON NOW CHAPS CUT IT OUT ,

I understand it can be hard to trawl through the internet finding everything,
I can also understand to be asked for all the information would be a ball ache to a person with such research, no need to fall out,
in time it will come, its all out there ,but takes TIME, to put together,
I am not going to get involved in this one , I have quite a bit of info on various things but havent the time to put it all together at the mo, but like i said give it time, and theres so much t find out, from Hendon,Kew,Veterans, newspapers, locals, the list is endless,
Like the old saying goes, “Rome was not built in a day i suppose”
i would like to just say to all of you who have been kind enough to offer me help, with RAF Weston Zoyland , large or small, MANY THANKS for all the help and continued support, its Very Kind of all you ,and in the great spirit of aviation, which until i met the forumites i thought was as dead as a DODO,
your kind help has prooven that theory wrong at least,
    kind regards
    Chris Collins

Well said chris, not just on this forum but others have seen me spreading the word and the website and ive had alot of interest and so much support.

It will get there one day and i cant wait, just need to have some believe and a good imagination.

Again thanks to all those who have supported/supporting weston zoyland and our own private projects and ventures.

I have a couple of days to my self so i will get out and about and see what info i can get from these various place. Ive been given an auto biography of a former enginerring officer and station commander of WZ and there great reads (shame they havent been published) so i can add some personal accounts and have a nice little display for the museum as they have offerned some personaly belongings

    Thanks

“Good luck with that, might be of help that if you wrote a book about an airfield you have frieldy relations with the people startin a museum there and know the locals well.”

No need. I could just follow your example and get an ‘expert’ to do all the hard work for me.

    Regards,

    kev35

Well yes, seeing as i know nothing and wouldnt know where to start finding an “expert” to give some advice and coach you along the way would be nice. Luckly i think ive found some help.

    All the best

Still, I thank you very much for sparking my interest in Weston Zoyland and the units which operated from there. I feel a trip to the National Archives coming on. Who knows? Maybe a history of RAF Weston Zoyland could provide me with my second published book.

Good luck with that, might be of help that if you wrote a book about an airfield you have frieldy relations with the people startin a museum there and know the locals well.

I like you help and youve got my ball rolling tho i know the point you are trying to make, which is get off my back side. But this forum has proven to be better than any book ive head off.

    Thanks for the help

And no i dont get half term breaks, im sitting my gcses, then 6th form after, plus theres work, weston zoyland bits and my voluntary work down at the local airfield along with day to day bits.

There is also a mass of misinformation out there. Personally, I dont see a problem in going straight to the experts. Nobody forces anybody to respond

At least im not the only one who thinks that, as they say you can have all the qualifications in the world but the people who know the most have been there before, and this forum is made up of people who have actually done it, these people have the really knowlege so why not ask.

I tell you if your young and have an interest in aviation some people dont do any favours to spur you on, they say its a dieing breed, i wonder why?

    Thanks to all

Thanks for info, its for a modelling project of mine.

I am trying to do an accurate scale model of a mark 1, so i need to get the proper dimensions and scale them down.

Do you think the owners of the XP-51 could give me that info?

Kev35 nice to see you have lots of time on your hands, shame i dont.

    Thanks for the help

No problem Stuart, I knew it had to be something simple. Unfortunately the new board software meant that they first time everyone came back to the site, the “Remember Me” function didn’t “remember me” so you had to remember your username and password. Glad you got there in the end! 🙂

Have we all noticed the new attachment feature? Try clicking on one.

Wow this is to much for me to take in lol

Nah its all great stuff thanks, and its alot faster. Tho im confused by pms and the profile comment system ill get my head around it

    Thanks

    Matt.

I’ve given it to you on a plate. Go to Kew next week and copy everything you need. Then just collate and put it all into context. It’s a simple matter now to create some method of actually identifying chronologically which Squadrons were stationed at Weston Zoyland. That gives you your history of units operating from there. Spend a couple of days there ordering and copying the documents you need. Check the NA website to check what ID you need for a a reader’s ticket.

I didn’t know how to do any of this until I tried. It’s how you learn and it makes it far more fulfilling if you can do it yourself. Be prepared to put yourself out and don’t expect it all to come to you. You have to dig and keep worrying at it like a dog with a bone till you get there. Sometimes, i think it’s a bit like being a detective, piecing it all together. I’ll advise if I can, and assuming you want the advice, but I suspect you need to show more than a little willing yourself first.

As I said, the above took me an hour. A couple more hours and I could probably fill in some of the blanks without going to Kew.

You have a go first, you’ll find it’s well worth the effort.

    Regards,

    kev35

Thanks for the advice. It will take me along time as i have countless stuff to do

    thanks
