Brooklands have a large collection of engines.
But I am not sure about a specific Gnome type.

I seem to remember that somewhere (Hawker Restorations?) there were
the components of a two seat Hurricane?
Or was that just a rumour? 🙂

Nice video. Pity we couldn’t hear the engine for the none stop woman!
mmitch. 🙁
I searched my local cemetery for a CWGC listed grave and with the help of the staff found the standard gravestone had been replaced when his wife was buried there too. Only the cemetery identity number confirmed it.

P/O John Bland flew from RAF Gravesend and is buried in Gravesend Cemetery.
Shoreham Museum (in Kent) has done a lot in marking the sites of crashes in the area.

I’m sure the pilot who made the forced landing in the Hurricane some years ago was glad of his ‘bone dome.’ Perhaps a little compromise, how about ‘leather brown’ instead of white?

The original reason for forming the LLA was to get the BBMF to return to Lincolnshire and always have the Lanc based there. It just grew from there. 🙂

The ‘missing’ Meteor from Cosford?
mmitch.
A Lancaster flew south over our house in Wiltshire about 3pm today .
From Kemble perhaps -to where ?
Anne
The Lanc was on a round tour from Kemble to Goodwood and back for the night. Then today (Sunday) to Goodwood again then back to Conningsby. The BBMF try to fit in flypasts en route where ever possible. It’s near the end of the season now but they provide a schedule at their website.

Suspect he has been very busy on the 6th Spitfire 🙂

I went for a pleasure flight in a Tripacer in the late 50s too. I don’t remember a terminal building . I think there was just a wooden hut.

I do think that Brooklands does not promote its self as well as it should in general. They have a website which isn’t always kept Upton date on coming events.Perhaps they should take lessons from Newark’s plugmeister. 😉
mmitch.
hang on is Biggin Hill back on?
No. Biggin is sometimes used as a stopover point. It meant I got the Lanc over home on Sunday. 🙂

I hoped that a new man in charge would change things for the better or at least more positive. The extended opening of the three halls and now the galleries was a good first step. Perhaps a breath of realism is blowing though the RAFM corridors?

Haven’t there been appeals on here from the crew restoring the Kennet Gannet for tools required (for the props?) If they had no success what chance finding them in the US?
