    My point entirely

Manchester is, geographically speaking, in roughly the middle of the UK (it’s just north of Blackburn) but not England. AFAIK, the Midlands always refers to West Midlands (Birmingham etc) and East Midlands (Nottingham etc) because they are close to the middle of England (it’s not far from BHX). Manchester, on the other hand, is in North West England.

In general I always understood it that if someone says “up North” they mean Northern England (i.e. Yorkshire, the North West and North East England), Scotland and Northern Ireland. I can honestly say this is the first time I’ve ever heard the North West classified as the Midlands.

BTW, how long has Leeds (c 40 miles ENE of Manchester) been in the North East? I always thought it was in Yorkshire.

I’m not trying to be pedantic or argumentative; just never heard Manchester being classified as the Midlands before and from my perspective it seemed a bit odd  😀

    Man is hardly north.

Not sure people from Manchester (like me) would agree 😀

Nice photos. Not the world’s most graceful aircraft but I guess it’s very functional.

    A case of mistaken identity? 😉 🙂

Yes he he 😀 Trying to do about 26 jobs at once. Glanced at the Euro Atlantic and thought it was one of their L1011s 🙂

Superb pictures Tenthije 🙂 If Boeing were seriously considering redesigning the 747 I couldn’t envisage it would enter service for at least 5 years by which point the first 744 airframes would be 21 years old. Somehow I can’t see Boeing pinning all its hopes on just the 737NG (plus any future re-design) and the 7E7 in the future.

Good report. Hopefully flying EZY again in the autumn. Come to think of it, I’ve flown with EZY more than any other airline.

Seems pretty much a done deal pending US approval/

Sorry, didn’t see this as I was on holiday at the time. I could see this service doing very well indeed. What next for bmi at MAN? 🙂
