no i wanted to know what aircraft i was going to fly on and if mytravel had any chance of going into receivership which could mean we couldnt get home and also what palma is like.
You should be able to get some shots of the apron from the windows in the central area of LGW South departure lounge and on the piers leading to the gates. As for PMI (which is a massive airport), you should be able to get some apron shots from the piers leading to the gates – you may also be restricted as non-Schengen flights use particular piers. I was last at LGW South in 2003 and PMI in 2001 so I doubt too much has changed. However, the layout and size of both airports means viewing isn’t great at either (and PMI has tinted windows, I think 🙁 ). There are a few sites round PMI if you’ve got a car, there’s a good one close to 06L/24R.
MYT aren’t likely to go into administration and even if they did I guess you’d be ATOL protected. Anyway, have a great holiday.
A small plane ! Which plane is small? A Tipsy Nipper, that’s small, but even a Cessna can not be called small! It hjas a wingspan of 11 meters: big stuff!
Izmir is a big city and has a good airport. Comparing with the facilities at Dalaman or Bodrum… Much lower.
It was a 738 – not quite so small
Great pics! Thanks
Neat photos! The contrails and heat haze are very well captured.
Sorry to hear that you didnt have such a great experience. I’ve heard good things about Helios in general; maybe the timing of the outbound flight and the delay to the inbound flight upset the crew.
I suppose not so many widebodies visit LCY , am I wrong?
Not at all – I think the largest we get at LCY is the 146!! The runway is only 1,199m long so even the CRJ can’t operate here. Thanks for all the comments!
Couple of shots of the runway:

There has been an explosion on a Turkish Airlines plane at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport.
The city is currently hosting the Nato summit attended by world leaders, including George Bush.
The explosion happened on a small plane which had just landed in Istanbul after flying in from the Aegean port city of Izmir.
All the passengers had disembarked and the plane was being cleaned when the incident took place.
Reports claimed that a worker cleaning the plane had been hurt in the incident.
A security official said the worker had sustained an injury to his hand after opening a package which had been left on the aircraft.
Local television reports suggested that a second person had been injured.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the blast.
EDI-FRA is operated by 733s and FRA-FAO by 321s according to LH’s website for the dates and times you’ve given
It also begs the question, will we be seeing 738 LogoJets soon?
Hopefully, would be good to see the Jag on a 738, plus a few new ones. Maybe the novelty is wearing off for sponsors though?
Great shots! Air Transat always look so smart, though have to agree that the Onur Air 321’s c/s is a bit cluttered (apart from the noticeably white tail)
The possible A340-700?
Thanks for the comments. Just looked at the last one in full size and it’s not at all bad 😀
Erm.. I have a x10 zoom and applied about 50-60%. To get to the holding point requires almost full zoom.
Great photos – nice sunset shots!
And the impressive sunset…
