I accuse you of having lost your sense of humour. Try seeing a doctor instead of insults and make the world a happier place.
Having personally spent part of the weekend away with her parents I suspect that you actually didn’t have anyone to moan about, and that explains your frustration. Mellow out, smell the roses, enjoy a good book, be calm and enjoy life – its far too short for you to waste on being a picky grump.;)
Alternatively carry on flaming me, like I care – Nermal
Y’all is one of the most vile words invented in my opinion, it makes my skin crawl.
Didn’t photographer Tim Page think they were referring to U-Haul trailer rental for a while? – Nermal
Hate to rain on your parade but I was talking about Ken35 – as featured in EN830s post mentioning him. Must be one of the old guys.
It is my firm belief that some people really enjoy jumping up and down, ranting and raving, safe in the knowledge that it is better to attack than assume that they don’t have a clue when a bit of fun was being had. In the old days there probably would have been a thread with the title Wheres Ken35, or Ken35 – Missing Presumed Drunk, or similar. Still…wheres the moderators: those two were flamming me! – Nermal
Think you’ll find that they don’t practise in Britain with these weapons… – Nermal
I hasten to add neither Snapper, Ken35 or myself got to the stage where we were threatening other forum members however veiled.
Where is Ken35? Hes been very quiet recently. Maybe hes off clubbing Canadian seals, do you think? (Are they allowed to club American seals without the threat of an armed invasion? Do they do it to music, the latest clubbing tunes being blasted out over the ice?) – Nermal
I think it’s highly undesirable for individual members of a free speech medium such as this to be entrusted with the ability to wipe a thread because they personally disagree with sentiments expressed by others. I have no problem with the Webmaster mediating – after all, somebody has to do it, and who better than a representative of the organisation that provides the facility we all enjoy?
But how did members get to be moderators? (And no, I’m not volunteering – I have strong views I would like to place occasionally and would be compromised if I had to moderate.)
If you had been here you might have seen frequent verbal assaults and much flaming – not just here but on the commercial forum. These usually started on Friday afternoon and continued until Sunday evening, before being deleted by the webmaster when he’d waded through the complaints (usually Monday lunchtime). Sometimes there was intense flaming in the evenings too, in fact whilst the webby did a fairly good job when he was in the office and not busy the rest of the time could be horrific.
So names were nominated and voted for. Simple as that. Now the unnamed chap (for reasons that could involve trying to make sure this thread isn’t closed…;)) who, rumour has it, came third wants to be a moderator. He cast all sorts of accusations that one mod in particular has deleted threads because he didn’t agree with them, that he locked threads that were critical of him, and that he started to crack down on those who broke the code of conduct rules when it suited him (check the rules: see where he put ‘no correspondance will be entered into’ as regards threads being locked or deleted? He was accused of being worse than the nazis as regards freedom of speech by the guy who started this thread, yet no one made any complaint about it when the webmaster typed it). Yet nothing has ever been shown as proof.
There have been quite a few people who should have been moderated a lot more often, some warned, and a few banned; but what I personally feel and what the moderators would want and could do without causing upset are totally different things, probably.

Yes indeed. If they are not complaining about a museum, they are complaining about those complaining about a museum. Or they are taking potshots at people because it is fashionable to do so.
Great museums – as with anywhere open to the public – need good press to generate interest. A problem with this forum is that people hold different views on a range of subjects, yet unless you hold the same opinion as the vocal majority you will be frowned upon: look at the banter whenever someone mentions they aren’t overly enamoured with Spitfires or Mustangs. One person might think that the plastic Eurofighter shows a modern aircraft in scale with the older, non flying items; others will ask why include it. Some moan that the Me109 and the Mustang ought to be flying and others will enjoy seeing them in the flesh. A few will believe that the bombers need to be viewed in the dark to capture the mood whilst others will insist it is too dark. Then there is the knocking of members for whatever they do, whatever they say.
Maybe we should ask ourselves if the post we are about to send is constructive, and whether it adds anything to the discussion; if it is just countering a point with ‘no its not’ or mumbling the same ‘Duxford is fantastic, full stop’ line again and again, who is it you are trying to impress?
And by my reckoning I shouldn’t have sent this – Nermal
Is the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry worth a look?
Isn’t that the one with the Stuka? And the Spitfire? and…? – Nermal
Theres me thinking I was alone in thinking that this forum had become a bit too Duxford orientated recently.. – Nermal
There were copper mines in Britain (in Cornwall for example), but I don’t know if they were still in use then – Nermal
Thought the cockpit was the nose, for the first Blenheim. – Nermal
Its one of the former Swedish Fireflys that were imported into Britain not so long ago, and yes – thats what it looks like. – Nermal
Wonder who else was available in the Great Escape range? Ives the mole, Hendley the scrounger, Blythe the forger, or even Big X Bartlett? With optional extra – real Stalag Luft dirt!
Some how I doubt it. – Nermal
Anyone want what hes having? – Nermal
