What this one?

Damien has been raving about the work that has been carried out on the Canberra for ages. Reading that website its clear that it is a magnificent effort.
May one suggest a Forum meet in the future (perhaps on a day that Malcolm is there) to view this and the Sea Harrier and of course drink loads of tea and slag off forum members.
Bloody idiots

Apologies, I’ve just looked back and seen your post. I must have missed it when it first arrived.
If you read back through the forum, the next meet is a trip to the Museums at Harrington and Twinwoods on the 20th March with a trip to a Pub in between.
I’m sure AIB has filled you in with all the details. If you can make it you’ll be more than welcome.
Edited to curse AIB for posting at the same time as me
So will I (but dont let that put you off!)
Very probably……….hic!!!!
Thanks for the PM I have sent one in reply. Unfortunately I cant make the 23rd. But if theres a second trip I hope to be on it.
Have fun all.
Steve
As ever the most important thing after film/sensor quality is the quality of the glass in front of it. In some cases the quality of the former latter can negate some of the inadequacies in the former.
Spend 3 grand on a camera and put a Β£50 lens in front of it and you’ll see the difference. Point and shoot cameras are very good at that, pointing and shooting. But for Β£150 you’ll not get a very good lens in front of it. In this case your SLR will win every time. But its not really fair as your not comparing like with like.
Also ever tried printing a shot from the digi at 7×5 and seeing how it compares to film?

When’s the party π
Keep CDs and DVDs used for backup in a cool, dark, dry place (away from as much light (including infrared) radiation as possible)
Two whole posts and that was the line I was after π
I already have fault tolerance on the files stored on the PC, all my CD’s DVD’s are kept in a proprietory filing system which was chosen to specifically because of its preservative copies.
Other than sending a copy to my cousins in Canada, not much more I can do really.

Got any info on logevity of CD’s and DVD’s and the best methods of storage. An archive is no good unless you store it well in the first place (one of the points Mark is making I believe)
You stopping at Popham on the way then Rob?
The one thing that tends to be overlooked by digital converts is that processed film gives an instant visual record. Digital does not. Slides may suffer from colour shift; negatives may be grainy, but they can be viewed by simply holding them up to a light source. Canβt do that with a CD!
Ah I was waiting for that one π I can have a photo viewable on the back of my camera in 2 seconds and on a Laptop within 10 seconds if needs be (direct shooting onto the laptop bypassing the CF card I’ll admit). By which time you would still be rolling your film back onto the spool so as to get it developed.
As for storage, I have a very good storage solution and have no intention taking away my ability to view DC’s and DVD’s in the future. With the number of images taken on digital cameras now, any new storage solution that isnt backwards compatable just wont be viable. I care for my CD’s as if they were negatives.
Whatever the arguements between negative and film, and I totally respect your views on the subject, it will be made in the end by the film labs. Kodak have mede their intentions clear. Before too long it will be film that is the exception rather than the rule. Jump on and enjoy the ride.
Stewart you are very rude.
