makes sense Chinaz will install it on a Flanker clone. much more safer and controlled. the J-20, me, is still under testing

They don’t conceal the engine nozzles or exhaust plume anywhere near as much as our stealth designs do. Rear aspect stealth will be heavily dependent on how well they can stealth up their engine. But they do have plenty of time to work on it considering the service dates that they are forecasting.

Speaking of XF9, which do you think we will see flying in the air first – it or Ws-15?

WS-15.. depends how much the Russians will give info on the AL-41 or how fast they reverse engineer 🙂

XF9 is already under testing it seems

The Mig-23 was the worst of the 3 for air to air.

The Mirage F1 had the longer reach with its Super 530D missile
the JA-37, especially in the 80s, had the better radar and better medium range missiles. I think at the end of its life it could even fire AMRAAM

MiG-23 was probably far more maintenance heavy and expensive to operate i bet with its swing wings.

but for air to ground roles, I think this is harder.

Mig-27 swing wings did give it better low speed performance and the type did well in India
Mirage F1 could carry the exocet
I believe teh AJ-37 probably had the best load capability

For air to ground, the Flogger wasnt too bad.

Useful pylons for bombs and shet

Mirage 4 only, (other 2 AAMs only)
Flogger 4, the other 3 are likely only missiles or fuel tank
    Viggen 4-6 depending on weapon

am watching G20 summit right now

Donald Trump says he will not withhold sanctions and stuff

so Turkey can get both its F-35s and S-400 Missiles

Yes the F-104. Most definitely the sexiest of the era. How could Hamburger forget about the Starfighter?

For my air force I would buy the Mirage III though. The most versatile. And pretty good combat record.

ah, i should have said European fighters.

when I think of the F-104, i feel it should be compared to the MiG-21

Gripen C and Gripen E are different jets with different ranges. Especially the advertised ranges for the Gripen E (even Gripen C for that matter) should suffice for the Swiss boundaries.

Unless Saab has been using clever PR to advertise some range that doesn’t match up in real world scenarios.

yes, very correct African American Archer! (Triple A title!)

the problem is the Swiss dont wanna evaluate the E.

now, to placate the very vocal Francophones here…
I think had Switzerland went Mirage 2000 from the beginning, instead of F-18s and F-5s and whatever.. we probably wouldnt be in this mess
the 2000s would last well into the time more 5th gen options are available. or 6th gen..wahtever that is.

In this case it’s little to do with engine layout and more about the Su-57 and Su-35 being much larger than the F-35 by a huge margin.

I think he’s trying to say, any design that looks like the su57 is the correct design. Anything that looks like the f35 is the bad one

Rememberthat i)this is only a model (smae for tempest who’ model belly was 50 cms high). B. This is just one small part of a system. That is the real diference with F-35. SCAF is built first as lets say an “open OS” you can plug in. F-35 on the opposite, the rest of the system is completely built around and is as closed as Ios

Given they change the design completely every year or two.. I expect maybe 15 more new models before it flies.

will probably end up looking similar to whatever the British will make.

By then the market will probably been saturated with F35, j31 j20 and maybe the kfx

funny when you think about it.. a guy comes here saying switzerland is tiny and any fighter would suffice, yet, in the last trials, a Gripen managed to be bingo fuel before succeeding to intercept a simulated liner over swiss territory.. go figure… I guess the pilot should’ve passed on keypub boards, prior to the test, so that some posters explain to him that any fighter would do it :highly_amused:

perhaps you should change your name from Too Cool to Too Triggered ROFLMAO

Feel sorry for Saab. The Gripen E seems like the best fit for Switzerland in terms of cost and the level of capability they actually require. This rule by Armasuisse is probably to avoid contesting claims of bias but they have eliminated the most suitable candidate. F-35 and Rafale are both overkill for their needs. F-35 operating costs will certainly be significantly higher than the Gripen E and the Swiss really have no need for stealth given they almost never will operate offensively.

    IKR

    Switzerland is TINNYYYYY

Switzerland is like only 300KM at its widest! it would take any supersonic jet less than 10 minutes to get to the farthest end.

they dont need some long range jet.

They may need Range if they participated in bombing poor countries abroad… but Switzerland is NEUTRAL!!!!!

Bruh, they aint flying anywhere too. So they dont need range at home, and they aren’t fighting abroad. You could say they could just do well with good SAMs

I suspect the Rafale selection is the Bias of Geneva, and that Bern was beaten out.

well since Rafale will win here it is
