    Hi Longshot,

Thank you. I shall check out Rosie’s War.

I’ve spent the day reading the thread from top to toe. Very interesting. I’ve located the site of Sintra airfield and found a on-line 360 degree DC-3 cockpit. I’m slowly amassing more than I’ll ever need.

    Regards,

    Simon

    PORTUGAL MAY 1941

    Hi Everybody,

This is my first post on The Aviation Forum. It is a great resource, and I’m hoping you can help.

I am researching a book, a novel, set in 1941, and want to get the facts as accurate as possible, for there are readers lurking out there just waiting for you to put a foot wrong.

It’s regarding commercial flights to Lisbon, Portugal in May 1941.

    1. Was there a regular seaplane service between the UK and Cabo Ruivo?

    2. I have found three KLM/BOAC DC-3s on the Whitchurch-Sintra run in 1941. Is anything known about the movements of G-AGBD Buizerd, G-AGBE Zilverreiger and G-AGBB Ibis?

    3. How were DC-3s at taking off and landing on grass?

    4. Did Whitchurch-Sintra DC-3 flights stop en route to refuel?

    Thank you very much.

    Regards,

    Simon Wood
