If flying Ryanair:
(From the ryanair website)
http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/faqs.php?sect=pid&quest=photoid
“For British and Irish citizens only, who are travelling on flights to/from the United Kingdom to/from the Republic of Ireland, a valid driving licence with photo is acceptable photo ID”
Adam
is it needed if you want to go to dublin or can a driving liscense be used.
You didnt say but i guess you’re a UK resident.
If so: travelling from an airport in the UK to Ireland a driving licence can be used providing it is the new style ‘photo’ driving licence. Provisional or Full
This is the case for Ryanair. Although if travelling with Aer Lingus for example, you may want to check with them prior to travel

Thanks for the comments guys. E-GPF, Unfortuently not many of the pilots were playing with the throttles so even though abit of sand was kicked up it wasn’t that powerful. I did get a picture of someone going head first into the sea –
๐ :p
THAT IS SO COMICAL ๐
Some brilliant pictures there and I think that you have given a lot of us some inspiration to visit this wonderful place.
Have just got my quote with Air France ๐
All the best
Adam
BTW who did you fly down there with and from where?
Great pictures mate
In one of the pictures i even count 4 birds ๐
Fantastic Video, but also can’t work out for the life of me what the bang/noise is upon rotation.
Looks like a 747-400 to me!! Am i right?

Further to last a couple of requests please.
The new LHR T5 spur road is not open unless you are a pass holder. Please don’t use it as a place to park up and view (as some people did today!) You’ll find yourself being moved on very quickly and asked what you were doing there in the first place. When it becomes operational it is likely Motorway regs will still apply there as well. ยฃ30 fixed penalty if you stop there without good reason.
Secondly, If you’re going to view from the 08 end at LGW please park well away from the emergency access gates.
Park in proper places and nobody has a problem. Would rather regular visitors who will notice things out of the ordinary.
As always some very good advice there. Sounds like you could be airport security/police.
Either way not important and back to the topic in hand.
I havent got any links to any Heathrow related spotting pages, but one thing i would point out if visiting Heathrow, is to bare in mind what runway they are using for arriving aircraft (only applicable when westerly operations).
Basically Heathrow runs on a weekly timetable. For example aircraft landing before 1500 will land on, say 27L and then from 1500 till last arrival they will use 27R and vica versa. The rota changes each week on a Sunday. I do have a timetable. If you send me a PM i can email you the PDF document with the information on it.

I was wondering if someone can offer any suggestions of things to do whilst we are there!
Well if i was you (will be in your position on the 18th June), i would take your camera and stay out at the airport for a few hours.
If aviation photography isn’t your thing then head into Dublin and check out some of the pubs/bars and the shopping area (O’Connell St)
I personally loved Dublin city centre when i visited last October. Although with Ryanair leaving my luggage in Bristol (Actually Bristol Ariport’s fault – Sorry Ryanair) it didnt make the first 24 hours much fun.
And also, does anyone know if there is there a bus/train service from the airport to the city centre? If so, how much would it cost for a return journey?
Check this link out, it should have all the information you need:
http://www.dublinairport.com/to-and-from/
Either way have a great time in Dublin whatever you get up to. ๐
All the best

Many Thanks for your help.
I have now managed to have a successful landing, so thanks for your help. I opted for flaps 15 and therefore a higher approach speed.
One thing I did try was to maintain my approach just above the glide slope. My reason for this was so that within the last 3nm of the approach I would adopt a lower nose up position (say 2.5 degrees rather than the usual 5) and therefore the N1 would be reduced as I was effectively โgliding’. Remembering to flare big time over the piano keys to ensure a smooth landing.
Auto brakes on 2 were sufficient at Manchester and as you said in the wet I would have other factors to consider. Thankfully FS 2004 doesnโt simulate different runway conditions.
Thanks for all your help
Adam
Yeah thanks for a good evening.
As shown in the picture of the EZY B737, the weather was quite vicious tonight.
My favourite clearly has to be the A319 backtracking ๐
Great work mate, especially under the difficult circumstances.
Keep it up buddy
Adam
Peter
There are some fantastic shots there. It’s great to see pictures of some different airlines on here rather just than the original easyjet for example. Keep up the good work mate ๐
Adam
The Jet2 Yorkshire has to be my favourite. Brilliant shot!
Keep up the good work ๐
Adam
Paul, once again you fail to surprise me. Regardless of the weather or the situation you always manage to make your pictures work.
Getting up at the airport at obscene hours is what it is all about – dedicated and patience, you sure made it pay off!
AMAZING mate ๐
Adam
Adam, it is great to finally see some pictures taken from a real unique perspective at NCL. You say the weather wasn’t that kind to you, but to me it looks like the blue skies and good visitbilty brought you some clear & sharp images.
My favoruite has to be the BA752 climbing out – Your picture shows the great power and climb rate these B752’s can achieve. Great work, keep them coming!
shame bristol hasnt got that kind of view!!!
Well it sort of has (Not as good as NCL) – At the bottom of runway 27 ๐

Amazon are currently selling Flight Simulator X for ยฃ9.96 (P&P is ยฃ1.99 or free if you spend ยฃ15.00 or more).
You’re not likely to get it any cheaper than this…
That is cheap – It’s just a shame my computer won’t run it! Afterall it is a very very demanding simulator.
I might consider purchasing one for the future
Please don’t question my opinion, just accept it.
Please remember guys that not everyone will share the same opinion and it wouldnโt be fair not to accept or respect others views. Every passenger who travels JET2 is entitled to their own opinions and views based on their service and performance โ regardless of whether this is positive or negative.
Dave has asked us all for feedback on their service and this is what everyone has provided him. If negative feedback is given, then perhaps we shouldnโt be so quick to start a rant against each other but instead discuss, like adults, where any possible issues lie and what JET2 or any other company for that matter could do to rectify the problem.
Letโs listen to what others have to say and let them view their opinions freely, after all Dave did ask for feedback regardless of whether it was good or bad.
Dave โ Make sure you form your own opinion of JET2โs service, and let us know how you get on. Enjoy your flight whether for business or pleasure purposes ๐
