    Oh,and Pondskater,even my Dad’s never heard of a Latham47.
    What is it ?
I only found its name in my Big Girl’s Book of Aeroplane Names.

It is the plane that Roald Amundsen was lost in, heading out to search for Umberto Nobile’s crashed airship in the arctic. There is a team out just now trying to find it. Arctic explorers is my Mastermind subject – after flying floaty things.

I had hoped that the Latham 47 would be a bit obscure but I didn’t allow for your Big Girl’s Book of Aeroplanes.

Quieter in here since all the naughty boys went back to the historic corner. If any are still wandering round looking for the exit, feel free to join in.

Anybody up for another round of this?

Twinboom – hope you don’t mind me barging in. To link to a pic you need in front of the webaddress for the pic and after it. Or, use the “manage attachments” button in the “additional options” below the text box in your reply. That way you can change the filenames of the pics if they contain clues 😉

You’ve picked up an important point Bumblebee. If a person claims to have had their livelihood adversely affected, then expect lawyers to be consulted and lawyers don’t like public statements until after settlements. This could take some time.

    Just speculation of course.

Oh no – that will be a loss to the forum. To me, losing James’ input will leave a much bigger hole than Andy’s. I wonder how many others have already gone quietly or are visiting less often thanks to this debacle?

Trouble is these things are often long in coming. Yes, this is the current crisis but with other issues in the past and clearly no willingness to improve matters, eventually it becomes one too many.

Will the forum survive this? Of course it will, but it could be so much more if this and other incidents had been handled better – or at all. We are all aware of many who no longer come here. If Key cared about the place then they would do more, do something, to try and encourage those voices to stay here.

But they still have a chance to reverse that trend. It is not too late for action to be taken, it just depends who is listening in the bosses’ office and how much the forum matters to them.

I’ve deliberately kept quiet on this thread until now but I’ve found today’s events unsettling.

James, best wishes, will see you in another place.

Apart from the issues mentioned above, I find that Pprune’s Historical section is simply a bit slow – there’s not much happens in there.

Planetalk and others are good, friendly places. There’s also a few small and specialist places such as the Flying Boat forum – it is small but populated with a very enthuasiatic and friendly bunch.

Peter if the HC bought the clip off the IWM surely the copyright for the film belongs to the HC rather than the IWM:confused:

HC had two options, to license the footage in that one programme, or to buy exclusive rights. The former is so much cheaper that it is likely that is what they did. So copyright will still rest with the IWM.

    Two methods I use:
    1. Save as – as explained above.
    2. If you have a pdf writer installed, then from the “print” command you can save a page to a pdf, which can be quite useful.

Are you also aware that Google keeps copies of webpages on its server for a little while? So if a forum or other website disappears for whatever reason, you can often find at least part of it on Google. Type “Key Forum Biaggi” into Google and then looked for the “cached” link under an entry which leads you to a version saved on Google, not Key’s servers. There are usually several copies with different timestamps, so search for the most complete. It is a last ditch rescue for when servers die etc but can be very useful.;)
