My father-inlaw flew on B-17’s [483rd BG]..he’s still alive and kicking but don’t try and tell him that his efforts along with his colleagues were in vain. He was seriously wounded in action doing his duty. My grandfather served at Ypres in 1916-17 [WIA] and our direct family lost 3 KIA and 2 WIA in WW1, my father served in RAAF [WW2] and I served in the SE Asian conflict. We do our duty and don’t bemoan history but rather accept the fact that it is and has always been a f#$ked up world…

All problems will be solved when the last politician is stangled with the gut of the last priest..anon.

Get real you guys, it was war, total war and that means people get killed and all on both sides do their duty. Germany could have surrendered months earlier to save themselves????…hindsight is a wonderful thing [I don’t think] If my aunty had balls ,she’d be my uncle….

Using prop aircraft to turn a carrier is known as a “pinwheel”. We used Grumman S-2G Trackers to turn and dock the good :diablo: ship HMAS Melbourne in 1980 when I was CAG Satco…..aircraft chained at right angles fore and aft…man the noise of those 1820’s running at METO power was the best part…and it worked. the f$#*7g tug boat men went on strike after we returned from warmer waters around the Gulf..

Check out Flying Bulls website…these guys should be applauded for the effort they’ve put into flying warbirds. Saw their B-25 in Basel a couple of weeks ago. polished metal  plus the logo on the nose…looked [and sounded as always] magnificent…

I believe that everything has been done to return it to the air but shortage of funds is holding things back. Aircraft underwent ‘surgery’ at Tyabb in Victoria…
