He missed out a letter, let it go.
The possibilty of bad weather or having to work at short notice means that pre paying is a no goer for me.
He should start a production line, they would sell like hotcakes!
It’s good to know it’s well looked after and not outdoors rotting away.
For all the naysayers this article was published on 31 March NOT 1st of April.
If only the RAFM Do17 was in this good condition.
Looks like Dr Pleming is going to be the last one to face any cuts,no more of my money will be going there unless itis ring fenced for the aircraft only, not paying his inflated wages. I didn’t realise he had been on such such a nice earner, if I had I would have stopped donating right ater the last flight.
Sadly The Few are getting fewer, RIP.
It went for £376.
I would presume that if the Vulcan had gone to Duxford the ownership and control of the aircraft would have passed to the IWM. The current plan, with the aquisition of the Canberra seems to be to keep the current team together and in gainful employment.
I would guess that the cost of the new builds would end up the same or more than the real thing. They would probably have been better off having business model like that of Airframe Assemblys in the Isle of Wight where they could build major assemblies to get rebuilds/crash damaged and the odd data plate flying.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this fascinating thread. A happy New Year to all!
Looks in better nick than the RAF Museum Dornier?.
