If the Little Bear is shut on a Wednesday, then never visit Brugge on a Wednesday,
a real gem of a bar !
It was a while ago but seem to remember through the alcohol induced fuzz that the Staminee De Garre was very good and the Hotel Erasmus had a well stocked selection.
Give this site a look it might point you in the right direction, you will probably have to ask locally for “pointing yourself in the right direction” back to where you are staying after you have imbibed unless you keep a map in your pocket 😀

I head him speak a couple of times and met him socially once.
Allthough much pilloried he was a great orator and a nice chap who firmly stood by his beliefs and at least he had the courage of his conviction.
To quote the BBC website,
“He resigned that position in the lead-up to the conflict in Iraq in protest over Tony Blair’s decision to go to war.
He had been an outspoken critic of the government’s foreign policy from the back benches”.
A great shame, he had much more to give.
The moral of the story might be that if you are a Labour MP of any real fibre don’t go walking in the Scottish Highlands (remember John Smith ? the best Labour Prime Minister this country never had).
Nice way to go though. With his lady on his arm, walking in the land he loved, and knowing he was right !
Rest well Robin Cook, you did your best and that all anyone can ask.
