Do you know who was piloting the Spit?
POD
Don’t know about old tricks but this gent looked very guilty so he was obviously up to something.
Did you say “guilty” or “quilty”…:D
I believe he’s spending some time under canvas.
“Canvas” covered pith helmet and “ain’t arf ot mum” shorts. A frightening image it has to be said…
This is where I placed them when I did G-AOTR a while ago. They look great 🙂
Brian, have you been playing around with Spitfire colours AGAIN??? AR213 just looks all wrong, that brown, that green…
Oh, sorry I forgot. That’s how it is:D
That last one has those black cross thingies on the side. I think they indicate that it’s up for disposal usually don’t they…:dev2:
I believe a lot of usually “unseen” aircraft were on the move. The peasouper was no doubt laid on especially to keep the usual suspects deterred. No one got a glimpse of the Chinese Stirling having compass swings for example. We’ll be able to do taxi tests soon, once we go to 16:00 closing time;)
The agreement with the Burmese Government was signed less than a week ago and the ground is still quite water-logged. Suitable conditions don’t usually exist until latter half of November.
The chaps concerned are very much aware of this forum and similar ones.
I may know of a warehouse full of genuine period compatible 1940’s ex ARP war reserve stirrup pumps. Is now the time to come forward? They are still in their waxed wrappers and one of them is marked with the name “Hodges”… Make me an offer I need to make space for some incoming furniture making raw material. Hardwood no less, and being offloaded by a dodgy bloke from near Milton Keynes…:D:p
PP972 has no current association with either ARC or HFL. I’m sure it will emerge in the next volume of the Book… 😉
Better health environment than your van version Bloodnok! I seem to remember regular gassings for anyone wanting a lift to the Pub in Thetford, maybe that’s why we are all now suffering advanced “Death Camel Porton Down” syndrome…:D Happy days:cool:
Fuselage, wings engine etc all stored at DX for registered owners http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=60&pagetype=65&appid=1&mode=detailnosummary&fullregmark=BWEM
I would imagine from movements earlier this year that you will be seeing PP972 flying first…
Oh good, it made it. Very nice aeroplane but boy is it ugly…
I wouldn’t be seen in a French car, let alone a hatchback thing like that…
Oh and the font is incorrect for the year depicted and the colour shade is way off the mark. Too much metallic in your photoshop pallette, bang bang that’s how we do it, blah blah…:p
Hey Brian, the Hunter looks great but the colours on our Spitfires look hideous! Bit OTT on the colour saturation methinks and what’s with the “Confederate” Gloss…
Ah Bomberflight, so kind of you to feature a nicely lit underside shot so that I could check out how all my stencilling looks at further than lying 3 ft away waving a spray gun in the gloom 😉
I think she looks stunning and is a credit to ALL the team (HFL, ARC, machine shop, design and support staff, admin etc) that have been involved. I would particularly like to say a big thanks to the Rolls-Royce guys who have been so supportive and patient with me and my interpretation of the colour scheme on their behalf. When I get a good shot (cr*p light today) as a comparison of the original wartime shot, I’ll post it up. Does anyone else think that perhaps PS853 should have its own thread? Not everyone wants to read Duxford Diary!
Oh and congratulations to John Romain, as the PRXIX was his 100th type in his logbook 😎
