Nice to see a warbird out and about at this time of year 🙂
Any idea as to whether TA805 will remain at Duxford until the Spring, or return to Biggin Hill once these tests are completed?
Regards,
Dan
Going back to Biggin Hill as soon as the weather is up to it and the driver is available.
[QUOTE=Mark V;1201869]I would suggest its a fibre-glass replica (alhough it did need a bit of ‘restoration’ work recently)!
It is a GB replicas Fibreglass replica, but is not the original inverted model which was disposed of after its untimely and somewhat careless demise. After a good slagging off of the first one by forumites as to the inaccuracies of its scheme – (which was the choice of the IWM and not that of the highly respected engineers that applied it under contract) hopefully someone might be complimentary to ARC for the excellent and accurate scheme they have applied – albeit with the IWM chosen code letters.

I really adore Bf 109’s and I just can’t stand Buchon’s painted as Bf 109’s, the Merlin and attendant ugly cowling bulges just jars with me.
Happy 2008!
Chris
Looks like you’re in for some more jarring then. Most surviving Buchons have spent longer in pseudo Luftwaffe schemes than they did in their service colours. If you include those at Big Spring with Connie Edwards, then it begs the question “what is the more authentic scheme” ?
RAF Waddington has been mentioned……..
Oh yes. Another Buchon to grace our skies. Always nice to see.
And just in time for the 40th anniversary of a certain film being made……..
How convenient 😉
Area 51 ? 😀
.
Nope its not here.
It was indeed JG891 although the accompanying air to air was unfortunately of the “late” PL983.
It really would not have been hard to get a nice air to air of the right aircraft 🙁

It is annoying when these reports are published and you cannot read one page at a time without scrolling the pages up and down.
You could always used the “old fashioned” method of printing it and turning pages of paper with your hands
Looks like that “travellers” site a bit to the west of you……..:D
I used to use “Modeldecal” transfers when I had the time to build my aircraft models. They did complete sheets of codes, serial letters etc in various different styles, colours and sizes. They went out of business but the decals are still available through “Hannants” model supplies, who have an excellent website. They should have what you need to complete your codes, though it may be another make of decal that you have to use. Hope that helps.

So why has MJ552 got a black spinner? Surely that’s a 2TAF identification marking introduced in Feb 1945……….;)
And what makes you think it should be red spinner/black codes, why not blue spinner/blue codes or also red spinner/ red codes…….
Did not KW end up with Patrick Lindsay’s MS.500 G-AZMH, so long part of the Booker scene – has he got two then?
Think you’ll find it went via OFMC to a museum in Germany as part of the Sea Fury swap. No flying anymore unfortunately, just like the one in Scotland. 🙁
No news of publication yet, but the engineer passenger got an award last week from GAPAN for bravery for returning to the blazing wreck and rescuing the incapacitated pilot, after he himself had managed to smash the rear portion of the canopy and escape. A very brave man.
An excellent achievement after such a comprehensive overhaul, well done to all involved.
Not sure about the font style on the registration, is it authentic to 1941?
Cue Mark V 😀
