Unfortunately years of outside display took their toll and it was cut up in front of the “Superhangar”. The Convair soon followed.
Great video clip. For a minute I thought I saw an authentic looking Ju-52 transport, but then I came to my senses and realised it was a totally unsuitable and unrepresentative Amiot AAC-1 Toucan and I was being “duped” by the museum of that time. Thank goodness they later “came to their senses” and got rid of it to the harsh “preservation” environment of external display in Poland (after those two DX restorations). Never mind, at least that Comet in the background went on to better things… errr or maybe not…:(
Camouflage is SO last season! This year Dayglo is IN… :love-struck:
I read the article and found it had come out really well. Nice photo’s too… 😉
This is THE book on the Buchon: http://www.libreriagaudi.com/los-derivados-hispanos-del-bf-109
It’s not cheap and the postage is pretty hefty, but there is an outlet looking to import it into Tunbridge Wells soon…
The book is in Spanish but the photo’s are self explanetary. There are comprehensive lists detailing accidents (big list) and hours flown by every machine. The paper is excellent as is the photo repro. I didn’t find the Spanish language too much of a problem, but an English version would obviously be the ideal. There is next to no coverage of the B of B film but it does finally identify the missing 18th flyer that was destroyed doing aero’s before filming began. It’s not Spitfire Survivors 1+2, but it’s of great in-depth research and unseen photo’s. Highly recommended.
Typical! Area 51 has been removed by the censor. It’s a conspiracy…
They only come out after dark…
Actually Bruce, I threw in a few Jelly Tots, just to get the true ’70’s feel of the moment 😉
Sprinkles all applied and baking utensils washed up and put away.
Awaiting “serving”…
On to the next one now… 😉
France.
Here’s another moody shot. Excuse the non-wartime buildings…
Some people have been waiting for a nice look at the nose art and the port side of the Lanc. Here’s a couple of shots of her from the other side and a line-up of some of our Lancaster engineering team. Top bunch of blokes.
Thank-you Mike, I’ll pass on your comments to the rest of the guys on the project. Hopefully it’ll be a bit sunnier next time she’s outside. The paint finish isn’t dead matt, it has an eggshell smooth sort of finish just as per the “S” type that the original drawings specify… 😎
That’s because it’s at DX…;)
Don’t think that Buchon’s going to be there now…
Must be the curse of the Legends poster, the Zero went the same way!
