Does China have something like Quickstrike naval mines? I’ve never seen aerial delivery of mines from PLAAF or PLAN H-6 and Y-8 types.
I would have thought something akin to a Tu-22m would have been ideal.
H-6K has more range than Tu-22M already. China is probably looking for something in the B-1B class.
The Greek socialist government probably haven’t entirely forgiven US and UK for siding against their grandfathers in the civil war.

It’s likely the chosen platform for Il-38 replacement shall be Tu-214, but on ground of standardization and reduced technological risks.
But there are no evidences MS-21 would be neither smaller nor shorter legged compared to Tu-214.
I would bet against it on ground of large use of composit structures and parts, potentially far more expensive to modify to adapt the airframe.
When you don’t need to accommodate maximum number of paying passengers, a simple way of getting more range is to shorten the fuselage ala 747SP. Much cheaper than composites.
I wonder how well that thing would do with some PL-12s hanging under it. I mean might as well right?
I don’t see why this problem would not be fixable. They could enlarge the canope to have more space for the helmet’s movement and they can modify the head rest to make it smaller.
That problem should have been identified by Beesley and co back in 2006 on AA-1.
The F-35 is not very maneuvrable but the pilot should at least have the ability tu use the full maneuvrability available while using the advanced helmet to the maximum.
Canopy change would require a significant redesign to off set changes to RCS and aerodynamics.
A Russian experts take on the F-35 & the meaning of 5th generation.
Seems subtitles cut off a minute before the end.
I thought I read they were working on something based on the Tu-214.
What are the Russians replacing their Tu-142 with? Surely the Chinese want something better than Y-8X.
Still need confirmation for the Sri Lankan order, but I have to say that while the news is unsurprising, it’s still a bit unexpected. I never believed for a minute those who claimed SL lacked the budget or strategic necessity. But given the political orientation of the SL government as reported in the media you wouldn’t bet on this deal.
Makes me question my assumptions regarding Sino-Sri Lankan relations. If they’re really going forward with the JF-17, it’s likely greater military cooperation will be forthcoming.
Neither.
Air defense is not required against a non-existant enemy.
sl should go NZ route.
If Australia magically swapped places with Sri Lanka, I doubt it would disband its air force.
No one seriously thinks Russia is going to attack Nato countries, not even the Baltic states. If they did they would find the money very quickly. All this posturing is just to communicate mutual displeasure. It’s a bit like the phoney war where both sides performed theater to convince their constituents their leaders were “doing something” when actually they’re avoiding doing anything of consequence.
80% of Iraqis no longer feel they are Iraqis first and foremost. If we accept Iraq is de facto three countries now we have to give the Sunnis some sort of political alternative to ISIS, one that the Sunnis are willing to fight for.
What kind of relation does Bangladesh have with China, India, and Burma ?
Long border with India, short border with Myanmar, no border with China.
