Agreed. 100%
Or at the very least, let EDI go from the BAA stranglehold.
Seems the one to ‘escape’ might be Abbotsinch!
I have heard rumours from a credible source that TWO
groups of businesspeople have either prepared, or are
preparing bids.
A more sensible approach would be the ending of BAA’s monopoly and allowing one or other airport to develop it’s own strategies and business.
Your best suggestion yet, one I have long advocated,
let both EDI and GLA compete instead of being in the same
cosy bed together. 🙂
If that seems harsh then, elect another moderator.
Let’s put it to the vote…. if you win, I leave… 😀
We must have neutral moderators….. let the forum judge the judges?
I thought it looked lower than usual compared to other aircraft climbing out. 🙂
I’ll be glad when the taxiway work is finished and folk
can organise their snapping better. 😎
Alaskan for me! They know how to treat their men. 😀 😀
Excellent pics. I saw Transaero depart today, although I was a few miles away. 😉
Bit frustrating with Transareo, it came in on R24 and I could not snap it at Spooks because of the ‘Stalag’ barbed
wire.
It left on 06 without backtracking and once again the
barbed wire obscured the shot. 😡
The simple answer is not to make “stupid comments” nor to rise to other stupid comments. It’s my job to deal with the “stupid comments”.
I agree with your comments about Silver Snapper’s other contributions however.
“WE” are supposed to sit back and turn the other cheek
to the jibes coming from a known disrupter? Look back
and discover who actually initiated the retailiation…
It certainly wasn’t me… perhaps another moderator might
have a more balanced, less parochial view.? 😡
EDI will get a CO 764 when GLA has 2 daily 777s
How old are you?
Why do all EDI spotter they to turn EVERYTHING into a GLA Vs EDI match? Its just pathetic realy.
Here we go again..GLAsgow is once again ‘locking’ a thread?
The seatguru map referred to the “Hawaii” configuration.
Airlines sometimes configure the same type of aircraft with different seats, depending on the destination. BA for instance, always used to have more seats in their “Miami” 744’s than the rest of the fleet.
The question being, “Will the real Continental 764 stand-up”?
Edi is expanding double the rate!
July marked the 72nd (6 years) consecutive month in which annual passenger growth at EDI exceeded that of it’s nearest rival. To the best of my knowledge, July marked the first month in which a Scottish civil airport (EDI) jumped the 10,000 atm hurdle and the first 12-month period in which a Scottish airport (EDI) jumped the 110,000 atm hurdle. EDI is also drawing further ahead as Scotland’s principal airport for the carriage of goods (freight / mail). 😉 😉
Can those be right. There are a lot of losses on a lot of european destinations from GLA.
July isn’t a good month to judge any GLA services.
It’s ultra-peak, the traditional holiday season, we will have a better idea how all Scottish services are performing come
off-holiday peaks..
[QUOTE=Grey Area]Continental say their 767-400s have 235 seats (35 in First and 200 in Economy) and not 285.
I wonder if the other figures are correct then?
Care to show us tour source GLAsgow?
EK was 80.14%
Interesting to see that the EDI-EWR service has a larger percentage.
But then, the pax number will be about the same, due to capacity obviously
The figures quoted by GLAsgow are wrong…
Based on 764 x 285 seats, the July total passenger count at GLA resolved to an average load factor of 74.56%
