Wernt Duo going to start service to Berlin from Edinburgh before the suddenly and suprisingly went bankrupt or was that from BHX.

Seems so long ago now Shamrock321. Wasn’t it Munich?
If only Duo got more time…their figures from EDI were
rising fast, a lucrative summer season could have made the difference.

Delivery of Eurofly’s two A319 aircraft is planned for spring 2005, with each aircraft being equipped with four-abreast seating for 48 passengers.

Not sure of the economics here…48 pax flying the pond and return, what sort of fares would they be paying?

Less than regular airlines business class or substantially
more considering coach pax will not be contributing to the yield.? 😮

An interesting development around stands 6 and 7 would suggest a long awaited wide-body stand and pax holding lounges.?

Not so according to insiders, it’s to make room for
more baggage reclaim space. Stand 7 will be no more.

So EDI will still have to rely on Stands 2 and 4 for
maximum 767/DC-10/MD-11/L1101/A310 sized aircraft.
All of which, have or will be, ending production.

Anything bigger being catered for at BAA’s other branch…

Just wondered what is in your minds the best UK based budget airline as i’ve heard a lot of criticism about some of them lately

I was quite fond of Go-Fly but alas they are now part of easyjet…so Easyjet it has to be.. :rolleyes:

Looks to be landing on RWY 24 at EDI Sandy, from the opp. side we view from – where all the trees are!

And, as a result, the dogs! I have never had my legs sniffed so much since I was a teenager. 🙂

But I’ve never seen that hill in the back ground before? From what you say, the terminal with be the the right of this photo, and from the planes perspective, on the left hand side.

I’ve never seen a hill like that there.

Turnhouse Golf Course with Corstorphine Hill in the far background… the telephoto effect bringing them closer than they are. 🙂

Where was that taken from… I can’t orientate with such a close up shot.

Yesterday, (Gorgeous day) over on the North Side,

Certainly is good fun to fly into LCY. I wish I could afford to fly home direct using Scotairways LCY/DND service more often.

They have cheaper fares at weekends?

As for a scottish link to germany. I do believe EDI is the best choice. There are far more germans in Edinburgh than Glasgow. Also, a lot of germans like to visit edinburgh if they come to scotland. So its the natural choice of airport.

And I’m not saying this to be pro-EDI. Its a fact.

BAA had the chance but they blew it! Now it seems the
airport is suffering from lack of facilities again.

The new terminal is about to exceed its design capacity
of 8M about 7 years earlier than anticipated.

BAA’s remedy of course is ‘calming’ rather than immediate expansion.

Attempted diversion of inquiries to their other monopoly airport has given non-BAA NCL a boost. 😡

Would independent owners at EDI have failed so miserably?

I’m not sure why they didn’t go for EDI. there is a massive German presence in and around Edinburgh.
They’ed make a mint with a Direct network from EDI to various german airports.

There was a huge German charter programme a few years back from EDI on Thursdays… it wasn’t repeated the following year despite massive loads..the excuse evidently
was lack of ‘slots’. 😡

Strange they found the slots one year, but they were
difficulty the next?. Were BAA secretly hoping to ‘divert’ the flights elsewhere but the airlines were having none of it? :confused:

I get the feeling there is a lack of enthusiasm at
EDI on BAA’s part that is not shared by enthusiastic
airlines. 😡

I was hoping that was going to be EDI there! 🙂 We’ve been campaigning for a Berlin link. 🙂 SOU seems weird though.

SOU being a BAA airport especially! 😡 I wonder if BAA’s fees there are rock-bottom compared to BAA’s
EDI? :confused:
