Hi Snapper,
Thanks for the comments….I found it even more difficult than the classic wings article to write!!! I hope the Tiffy Driver likes what he reads and I would love to hear from him…it is all for him and his colleagues 🙂
I can certainly help identify if they are sabre. Send me some pics and I will see what I can do.

my first reply seemed to disappear 🙁 stupid phones!!!
they are one in the same…later Typhoons and Tempests shared the elevators (in fact the entire tail unit)
I would be really interested to find out what sabre parts you have found as part of my project (RB396) is to catalogue all surviving parts. PM me if you would like.
dave
It is a shame lol but you have to follow everything up 🙂
found the farm but not the wing…There may be something no so far away that was used as something else….but haven’t had the chance to follow up yet.
cheers
dave
You would be surprised that some very small parts make a big impact on the project 🙂 it may also help to fill big gaps in the technical data as well 🙂
Not a sausage….not even junk mail 🙁 thanks for trying…have messaged bob so hopefully he will pick it up.
I was wondering if anyone knew who was selling the Typhoon wing parts that were mentioned on here? There were some large sections and they are perhaps some items that I was not aware existed…would appreciate any info 🙂 I am looking for any parts for RB396 and in particular wing parts (to tie up the drawings and measurements I have). Were they sold?
Thanks in advance for any help
Dave
You have PM hawker 1966 🙂
cheers

The good news is that the recovered parts (prop pieces, undercarriage leg and some aluminium skins) will eventually be on display in a local museum and not scrapped. Unfortunately F/Lt Woodward was not recovered and it is believed that a recovery was attempted after the war, perhaps it was before authorisation was needed 🙁
propstrike,
pat has a history of recovering multiple airframes from a particularly tough location…plus alot of knowledge about this particular p40 and some of the more ugly goings on behind the scenes. His number one interest is/was Dennis and his family…sometimes this young man seems to have been forgotten. We need more guys like him standing up for Dennis and the thousands like him.
Thanks for all your help guys….
Even though it crept from typhoon to include spitfire I really don’t mind when you see the display 🙂
The picture I had was of a Sabre, tail wheel, rocket and what looks like some other parts. I believe they were from MN142, I was interested in the panel to the back as I was wondering if it was anything Typhoon (it doesn’t look like tail as it has a removable panel, wing part perhaps?). I had been told that there were parts from another Typhoon but I have not been able to get a reply from the museum to confirm anything. This isn’t my picture and I don’t know who took it so apologies if anyone recognises it.

It always amazes me whenever I see the negativity around projects…I have had this over many years. If as much effort went into offering positive support (no I don’t necessarily mean financial) then more things might happen…lots of influential people read these forums and negativity can only harm.
One of the many questions I am always asked is ‘what do you want to achieve with your project’ and for many years now my ultimate goal is an airworthy aircraft in tribute to all the crews….is it possible? of course it is, it was done in trying circumstances with far less technology so why not? it may not be me that finishes it but I will certainly start it and why not think big?
I for one wish anyone involved all the luck in the world and I really hope they give it a good go…I wish everyone would wish them luck and support.
Looking for any leads/parts for Typhoon RB396. Particularly interested in any spar, wing or panel parts that would be suitable for patterns. Always interested in hearing about any surviving parts or any ‘rumours’, someone has to follow them up to confirm if they are true 🙂
The direction of the thread is a little unfair, there is an awful lot of original and genuine typhoon parts in Rogers project. I have nothing but admiration for the time and effort Roger has put in to raise the profile of the typhoon and it’s crew (as far as I know he has no tempest specific cockpit ‘frames’, whatever they may be, and there is no sea fury fuselage used).
on a different note….what i wouldn’t give for some of the rumours to be true and a pair of wings turn up like the spitfire ones above!!! they can be made but nothing like having the real thing to work from 🙂
