Hi,
That time of year again to remember. Just thought I’d re-activate this thread for those new to the forum and for those who have not seen this video honoring the crews of the Lancaster Bombers.

Wow, what a read! One small step at a time and all will be good for this piece of history!
While in Google with your search words, it is sometimes helpful to search within the images section. Clicking the image brings up the website with some good leads more often than not. Good luck!
That 10 engined Lancaster would have been a bit of a handful, while the Botha wasn’t so much a rare species but a suicidal species – the lemming of the air. 😀
Good heavens! So I guess a crew of 7 was not enough. This person must have been dreaming this project for a crew of at least 10! Extras needed just for engine management. Perhaps dreaming and counting “Spruce Gooses”
A couple taken by me – Goxhill 2002.
Steve, you need to make room in your mailbox. Trying to PM you.

Very interesting. Reminiscent of our AVRO Arrow!
A very cool, heartfelt story!
Merry Christmas and to all “a Good Night”
David,
You have some impressive memoirs!
Nice to see Santa’s elves helping out Jane!
I’d say the targets were Fokker D VII.
With regards to the H&S issues, forget the public they are safely behind a barrier, but just look at the armourer – working at height with no eye, ear protection, safety harness or staging. :diablo:
I think you are pretty much spot on with the aircraft ID. Ya, would have been nice if they were the only targets!
Great photo BTW!
The end of a Queen.

Good grief! There’s got to be a better end. Talk about lack of foresight or imagination rather than destruction!
Interesting aircraft! The wealth of info on this forum always amazes me.
I had never seen an “air ferry” before. Certainly no drive on and drive off in the same direction!
longshot:
You have pulled out some amazing photographic collections!
Thanks!
