The F-35 is still plagued with flaws in sensor fusion where sensors observing a single target create multiple echoes.. system breakdowns still occurring after every few hours of operation.. vital parts needed to be sent back to the manufacturer for repairs/replacements, creating enormous logistic burden.. those are not some minor issues.. well, no, I think this bird couldn’t safely conduct any operation over enemy territory, as of yet..
All combat aircraft suffer from these problems, why should the f-35 be any exception? Of course, many aircraft don’t suffer problems with sensor fusion – because they don’t have any. All aircraft suffer from a ‘logistic burden’. No F-35 has been lost in a crash to date after 80,000 flight hours or so, so I don’t see any problems operating over enemy territory.
Well, they did not send the F-35s to combat in Syria or Iraq, did they? Gotta ask yourself why if it’s so combat capable.. Maybe because USAF know more than you, another anonymous guy on the internet?

how do you know the Su-35 is any more combat capable, compared to the F-35? Do you really think the F-35 couldn’t carry out any kind of combat sortie – accurately drop a bomb, shoot down a plane with a BVR missile?
Still, the Su-35 programme was been compared to the F-35 programme – how would one compare progress in both? Seems to to me the F-35 doesn’t look to bad, it first flew about 14 months or so before the Su-35 – how do they both compare really?
Yeah, it was very strange that the USN and US military in general discontinued deployment of such helmet mounted sights – especially when you consider the success of the Soviet system on the Mig-29 and Su-27.

Su-35 has an internal fuel load of around 11.2 tonnes or so – more than either the F-35 or even the F-22. Like the two Americans the Flanker can be fitted with drop tanks but I should think that in most combat roles they are not expected to be used – they are just not needed.
All big ticket contracts including F-35 contracts include infrastructure and spares. Does the 43 billion figure quoted above include airfield infrastructure upgrades and spares?

you can get F-35 to 800 km radius, but you cant get it to 800 nm like gripen E does,
no matter how hard you try, its roughly twice as much,
(or more specifically as the technical specification on gripen E states:you can push F-35 out to 760 nm with drop tanks without weapons load…and thats the end of it.
what is known concerning speed is that gripen E is touted as a supercruiser, while F-35 isnt,

With just the underwing tanks: let’s say 8.4 + 3.4 + 2.72 = 14.62 tons. Total fuel 6.12 tons, fuel fraction 0.42.Drag does not affect fuel fraction.
That’s an awful lot of drag induced by all those external tanks – and that’s before we even mention the drag created by the weapons load. Does the Gripen NG still have the combat radius of the F-35 when both are carrying a pair of 2000 Ib bombs and 2 AMRAAMs?
Hmm. A surprisingly high number of spare radars (9), especially considering it’s an AESA, which is not supposed to be maintenance intensive..
Almost all equipment is very abundant, but at the same time, only eight CFTs.. This listing is kind of illogical, IMHO.
The order is for 32 F/A-18E and 8 F/A-18F – so just I spare radar set.
BTW, MiG-35s do not cost 17 million USD a pop – not on this planet anyway.
