I presume the F-35 comes with a flight and voice recorder as standard, you know, the “black boxes”? Are they equipped with sonar “pingers” that allow them to be more easily found when underwater – like the recorders fitted on airliners?

Have you not seen the VHF and UHF mobile emitters China has been rolling out alongside its domestic SAMs?

No I haven’t – have you? Many countries have such technologies, they still buy stealth aircraft, China included.

Russia puts more emphasis on an AD net and ground based AD than some operators who will be buying F-35, and have utterly anemic AD

Sure they do, as does the USA, China Israel and Europe as a whole too. But they are all buying the latest stealth aircraft. Remember, other countries also AD systems similar to the S-400, at least when we are talking about anti-stealth capabilities are concerned

Many countries around the world have ground based AESA AD radars in their military, they don’t tend to regard them as complete panaceas against the stealth treat – or even against non-stealth targets.

Got a question on the s-400 and f-35s for Turkey. What amount of F-35s did turkey plan to order and what time frame was the original order supposed to end? Could have they just gotten the f-35s 1st and than order the s-400?

…But yes, as far as defensive purposes S-400 + Nebo-M means there is no rush to induct stealth air superiority planes.
China has been doing much the same with its own indigenous systems.

No evidence for that. What do you think Turkey has been trying to do with their purchase of F-35 + S-400. China is certainly interested in buying types of weapon system, and as for those countries already buying F-35…

You do realize Turkey has 2 F-35’s in the US used by its pilots and ground crew for training purposes?

Yes, I know that, but the the Turkish pilots are not in the US to test the effectiveness of the F-35’s systems, though, are they?

There is slight merit to the claims made- Turkish officials have claimed that the F-35s are easily susceptible to Cyberwarfer/EW.

Have they, when? Of course they would, bearing in mind the politics prevalent in Turkey today. How did the Turks test the F-35?

In a list of all 5th gen fighters that are something more than just a prototypes, J-31 is less mature and developed of all of them.

It’s certainly an immature design compared to F-22 and F-35 – compared to Su-57, who knows?

but lacks its kinematic performance and ruggedness. It’s overweight and oversized as F-35, but it lacks systems (IRST, EOTS, whatever) and advantages of single engine design.

How do you know all this? That’s right – you don’t.

Turkey already got its hands on the F-35, and clearly was not impressed with that third tier turd. The conclusion is obvious- they actually value something that adds to their defense (S-400) not to LM’s stock holders.

    🙂

There are rumors they saw the Su-57 in action, as well as the F-35 in Syria, and well….the latter did not impress.

I presume you are writing in an “ironic” fashion to Scooter’s nonsense?

…and you have long ignored repeated attempts to educate you that the Su-57 will incorporate CNT/fullerene RAM in its (widespread) PMC radar absorbent structures. Research that RUSNANO and OKB Sukhoi initiated as far back as 2007, before the first metal was even cut on T-50-1.

    http://www.up-pro.ru/library/innovations/management/okb-sukhoi.html

Your link doesn’t mention the use of CNT or Fullerene for RAM as far as I can see – unless you can point it out? The text only mentions such material technology being applied in the production of composite materials.

    Wont be able..?
Is that a goal or even a realistic requirement by any standard..?

Bloddy hell, take a long hard look at Rafale cost’s

Rafale? That’s exactly my point – how many Rafales did the India buy in the end – after 10 or 12 years “shopping”?

If the IAF did shoot down an F16, maybe it was an issue with the flares. Apparently the US found in Syria that their flares were burning to cleanly to jam certain Russian IR missiles.

What variants of the R-73 does India use? The basic R-73 missile is a 40-year-old design. Have any R-73M been exported? You would think that effective counter-measures would have been developed for use against an old missile would have been developed by now?

Depends on the cost of their operation like will they spend more than NATO did on their war efforts n Kosovo? If they still launch strikes the question is how far instead of before with no long range air defense present.

No, Israel won’t spend more than NATO did over Kosovo in 1999 – the Israeli air raids over Syria don’t have that same scope.
If the S-300 batteries are the first targets of the next Israeli air strikes I’d imagine that the stand-off range of Israeli air strikes will not be greatly effected in the long run.

or arguments sake lets just say the Syrians begin operating the s-300s in Damascus and the rest of their defense network like today. a month, few months or possibly a year if no Israeli air strikes come this shows the effectiveness of the S-300.

That’s a very simplistic way of looking at it. If the Israelis do, in fact, launch air raids in territory covered by the S-300 in the near future will you accept that this proof of the lack of effectiveness of the S-300 system?

    • Will Israel conduct airstrikes lets say for example(don’t take my estimate seriously) instead of 10–15kms away they have done with short range they now have to do it 60–70kms because of the S-300 air defense system causing accuracy issues this will show the effectiveness of the s-300.

Sure, that would highlight that the S-300 is more effective than the previous air-defence systems. Even the air defence systems that Syria possesses today are effective at making more difficult, and expensive, to carry out air strikes – even if they can’t actually prevent and stop such air strikes. The S-200, Kub etc are certainly effective up to a point. But the S-300 is just another anti aircraft missile system – it’s not a miracle weapon.

We haven’t seen much from Msphere in many months – not since videos of F-35s performing pedal-turns and what not in air displays started turning up. He’s hardly suffering from asphyxia?
