So who would Israel actually like to see winning the present day civil war in Syria?
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Assad…
And so would just about everybody else’s – so what?
I like the MiG. The MiG-29 design is easily equal to the F-16 – but not with 1970s weapons and avionics, and very few MiG-29s in the world are armed and equipped with anything else. The exception of course would be IAF MiG-29UPG – now there’s a plane.
Better to compare it to a Block 52 F-16, I should think…
Sausage sources is right.
How can they both be equal in BVR – the F-16 should normally be carrying double the number of BVR missiles for a start – and they are AIM-120C-5…
We haven’t got enough space in Poland to fire real R-27.
Pilots use R-27 just in simulation in exercises like “Fruit Fly” and often plays aggressors against F-16s.
Any recent photos of R-27 on Polish MiG-29?
But does the Polish air force still operate the R-27 missile? I find it hard to find recent photos of a Polish MiG-29 carrying R-27, and dare I ask, when was the last time Poland test fired an R-27?
I don’t think the the focus of the either the Il-476 or Y-20 are foreign sales, it’s not a category of aircraft that sets the market on fire. How many foreign sales have there been of the Il-76 and C-17 in the last 10 years. The focus is on fulfilling the immediate needs of the Russian and Chinese military I should think.
I never said Y-20 had the same wing as an Il-76, just that it looks similar – I doubt if the Chinese would copy an obsolete 45 year old wing design for its new transporter.
The wing design looks similar to that of a Il-76, does it not, and are those black and yellow anti-radiation symbols plastered all over the airframe?
Which is why Serbia should go for the Su-35 instead.. and why the hell not.. Belarus is operating flankers :diablo:
How many completely brand new aircraft has the Belarus military taken delivery of since that country gained independence over 20 years ago?
People are still harping about “superior construction” methods? Hilarious.
F-22’s superior, rivetless amazing construction.
It looks good to me.
Who’s doing the harping?
The only Russian clones that the Chinese are exporting with some success are the An-26 copies, Xian M60, or whatever they are called.
But I can’t imagine anyone in China is making an awful lot of money from them?
To quite a few countries that don’t want/can’t pay $100+mn for a fighter. Cost of labour is much cheap in China than it is in Russia.
Well, Flankers used to be dirt cheap 10 years ago – but not anymore.
But the rising cost of labour in China is been well reported nowadays.
Indeed. I worked with a number of Russian engineers, and they had two things in common. 1. They had excellent education, on par with the best western universities. 2. They were ex-army…
I’d say most Swedish and Finnish engineers have spent time in their countries’ armies as well, national service and all that.
Cost advantages? I’m very sure China is going to undercut Russia on that front.
To whom will the Chinese sell a cut-price Stealth fighter to? Price of labour is also rising in China too, you know…
