The Bf108 (WNr 2246) is interesting in that it was captured (coded NF+MP) by US forces in Tunisia in May 1943, and was then used a communications aircraft by the US Navy before going back to the States in 1944. It went through many owners before being bought by Lufthansa in 1990.

Is Faber still with us? He could be, judging from this website:

I’m sorry to say that Armin passed away several years ago.

The Pembrey aircraft was I believe Joachim Farber’s (? its from my poor memory) .
The pilot’s first name was Armin (although this is often wrongly written as ‘Arnim’). Here is a link to the page on our website re the remains of his Fw190 http://www.shoreham-aircraft-museum.co.uk/faber.htm

The entrance to the underground Operations Block, now disused, and three shots from inside Lord Dowdings office. In the view of the back of the house, this office is where the two windows with the closed white shutters can be seen. Captions are invited for the last image 😮

Cheers Nick. No one else got any ideas?

A couple of changes to the line-up for the signing on Sunday 21st May.
Firstly, Peter Ayerst will not be there, as he has switched to the second signing on Sunday 23rd July.
Secondly, a former WW2 Luftwaffe pilot, Feldwebel Heinz Radlauer, has decided to attend the signing on the 21st May on his own initiative, and at his own expense. Now I call that a very nice gesture from one pilot to the others that we will remembering with these memorials.
Heinz learnt to fly gliders in 1940, aged 17, and joined the Luftwaffe in August 1941. After Fighter School, in June 1944 he was posted to join JG51 Molders then fighting on the Eastern Front near Minsk, scoring his first victory in October of that year. Heinz flew the Bf109G, the Fw190A, and at the end of the war the Fw190D, by which time he had notched up over 100 combat missions. Credited with 15 air victories, all on the Eastern Front, he was awarded the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class.
At the time of posting all the other pilots are still attending. Any further changes will be posted here.
