The circulation of aerial views of this very eye catching display will result in far more publicity about the memorial and those commemorated than the more conventional plinth or expensive bronze. It is intended for viewing from above so the limited ground access is not an issue.

Seems a bit odd, emergency landings happened at many bases and were not hushed up even for small aircraft. I have raised landing fees on several unexpected vistors and the arrivals were officially logged. It is fairly easy to isolate an arrival and keep the crew/pax away from restricted areas. The procedure was part of regular exercise drills.
I think the reference to RAF volunteers is suspect, these days there is little time available to volunteer although the word is very popular at the moment.
The former organisers of the air fair had made a very very difficult task look easy and any newcomers will have a big challenge to organise a reasonable show.
