Yes I see your point Pagen, my view is a result of watching so many projects get messed up by the RAFM in the past . I feel a sense of relief when others are around and can deal with the task. I will not turn the thread into a list of RAFM mistakes and a change of boss should help but thats why I feel like I do.

I am baffled at the need for all UK mil preservation to be carried out by the RAF museum in the opinion of many here. Before the RAF museum there were places where good work was being done and that trend is still in place in fact even better than pre 1970. The RAFM has done a lot better in recent times however I do not forget the odd decisions which made a shambles of the Colerne collection.

Anyway, a Nimrod is now on display at Kinloss and several others will be further South so we should all be happy. It means a lot to me because I did two tours at Kinloss and also saw the first ones enter service at St Mawgan when on Air Cadet camp.Plus being lucky enough to get several flights including the 75th anniv formation.

I never saw the design however it would be so typical from the man who was the son of the founder of Faucett airlines in South America.

I felt great sympathy for his family when his son went missing in a Piper Cub over England. He was astonished to find no system of booking VFR flights in and out was followed at civvy airfields in the UK unlike the military system. Hence the delay in reporting the Cub missing and also no info on the planned route.
