The aircraft following the Neptune is a Flamont.
the Stirling bits in the beds scrapyard were from the Mickle Fell example.
There is a paranoid response when the word Nuclear gets mentioned in relation to transportation. I am always cheesed off when near panic is created by the reporting of nuclear convoys in the uK . Even the movement of non weapons nuclear material is over hyped in news stories.
Having worked as a firefighter during the firemans strike several years ago I was shocked to discover just how much potential there was for explosion from every day UK cargo carried on roads . This included the petrol and gas tankers plus the hazard chemical loads on articulated trucks. Every so often one explodes , for example a gas tanker wiped out a campsite in France. But these loads are not nuclear and get no protests even though the potential for explosion is far greater.
Oh well its just another example of media led hysteria..like the recent Northern Rock fiasco.
The wreck is between high and low water marks and therefore is on Crown property( an ancient clever bit of law making which ensures the crown have the right to shipwreck, flotsam and jetsam washed up)
So you can visit the wreckage as long as you are just looking.
Its a smashing bit of trivial knowledge because it means you can have access at low water to all sorts of seaside places which the owners claim are private beaches.
Well said Kev 35. Theives / con artists come in all shapes and sizes, many can look very tidy and blend in well. Just watch a few episodes of The Real Hussle.
Its a shame tins were stolen but at least no one got hurt.
Why was TIGHAR involved? Well can anyone name a group in the UK who can provide the same level of expertise and give up time too attend such a survey? And if there is such a group does anyone from that group bother to keep a high profile like TIGHAR. Seems to be that TIGHAR were prepared to be involved with the investigation with no claim on the wreckage.
Looking at the list of organisations involved so far it must have been crowded on that beach.
And i always chuckle when I read that the actual location is being kept secret..on a beach with public access.
Tv Movie

Dont believe all that stuff about the EU and shapes of veg etc its all urban myths. If the EU had not helped with grant aid a lot of Scotland, Ireland and Wales would still be waiting for Whitehall to pay up to do such things as improve roads, build new harbours.
It takes time to sort out many aspects of operating any aircraft when regs change. Just because an aircraft is grounded does not mean it is forever. Many piston and turbine transport aircraft spend months seemingly abandoned and within a few weeks they are flown away on a new contract.
I am even more shocked now in a better way….Peter is fine, I just spoke on the phone to him. Somebody somewhere made a mistake.
I can recall a few pics of wartime or just post war RAf fighters with the users initials displayed as codes so its not that odd.
As a QI fact I have noticed a few pics of Tucanos now using full squadron codes !
Greaet to see another restoration fly.
It is a very neat idea at Sheppey, the proposals mesh together Eco friendly buildings, nearby nature reserves, job creation, training for skills and a museum. Interesting web site as well.
Glenrothes welcomes spectators and has a friendly attitude.
Older planes are harder to sell
The market for vintage planes is very poor now . You have to be a real enthusiast to operate one due to often higher costs. The new wave of private pilots are buying the light sports aircraft which are fuel efficient and lower maintenance.
There was a time when a well looked after vintage aircraft would go up in value but apart from a few types eg Moths it does not happen.
Having read every post about the project I will add my written support so the Graham does not think he is without praise. To make a running recreation of such a famous aircraft on a budget is a fine idea being turned into a real display item. The general public will be impressed and are not the nit pickers.
There are plenty of museum and flying examples for the purists to look at , so there is room for this type of project.
And if it inspires others to have a go thats even better.
Paint the reverse of the items on show with a special paint which stains the thiefs hands or clothing,or marine grease which is a ****** to get off.
