Cees, the Loch Ness Wellington recovery team made the first attempt using a custom built lifting frame. Due to uneven loading part of the frame broke. A local engineering company then made another lifting frame. This one worked and due to the depth and position of the airframe lifting bags were used.

    Negative results

There are all sorts of recoveries.., scrap yard, high ground crash, jungle airfield, underwater, restore to ferry flight. Depends on waht you mean by the phrase. And also how do you define not being a good result? Sometimes it has taken 10 years and many site expeditions to recover all the parts. On other occasions it has taken a new team to finish a job.

Overall the recovery and restoration of historic aircraft is in a very good state at the moment. Thee are several companies with good track records.

Organ doning is good for your soul

Certainly not cruel or heartless. It is heartless when governments ignore the crisis which causes the cruel situation . We have the means to transform the lives of those who are waiting for transplants. A government with courage could change the system. It should be automatic that any suitable organs should be available unless the person was carrying an opt out of doning card.

In China organs are recovered from executed criminals, what a great way to bring good out of people who choose the wrong path.

And reality shows are good for exposing the bits of crappy behaviour which need to be dealt with not swept under the carpet.

As with many things in life it is the negative aspects that get the headlines. The youth of today are mostly far better behaved than those of 50 yeas ago.It only takes small numbers with an eye for seeking publicity to give an entirely incorrect perception.

It is a publicity stunt,Which is not always a bad idea. Far too few people carry a multi organ doner card.It is reality because the people are real not acting. Sadly many people in this modern world hide from reality. Those who have to deal with the daily wait for a doner should benefit from the publicity which this programme generates. If you have problems with the reality of organ donor shortage do you also have a problem with the reality of starvation featured on fund raising films about places in North Africa where refugees are in desperate need.

Good can come from facing reality highlighted by these programmes, the last big Brother highlighted the truth about racism which many pretend has been dealt with.

I thought the WW2 aircraft reccy models were made from a black material and certainly more accurate?

Sadsack , I see nothing inaccurate in having a love interest in a wartime movie nor do I feel that is wrong to portray some aircrew as openly scared. There are plenty of published true accounts which detail both these aspects around bomber crew life. The idea that all aircrew were stiff upper lip ,fearless and expert fliers is untrue.

Something does not make sense about these aircraft. I would question if they are decoys. Why are they not dispersed? No camoflage, no sign of any ground support kit. While the pic is real I would expect that such a cocentration of potential danger would have been destroyed within a few days of being located by the Sri Lankan air force.
Can anyone explain the background to these aircraft or is this a propaganda pic.

What seems to be overlooked is that an entry price to an airshow means that you are booking the services of hundreds of specialist services for at least 3 hours.Because the costs are shared it becomes possible to witness avaition displays close up for far less than booking one display item on its own. The public sadly have little idea just how much it costs to rent the equipment and services for just one day. For example a PA system, or enough portaloos or setting out crowdline fencing or emergency cover and I have not even mentioned the cost of the flying displays.

A lot of aviation activity is taken for granted and perhaps its time to explain more in the programmes.
