The Aultbea event is a 3 day festival marking Atlantic convoys which formed here, there is a planned Spitfire display at 1450 local sat and sun plus a t34 tank and Spit static replica etc.
It has been visible at Duxford on many occasions,it is not the only Mark one here, free trade is a fact of life and without open trade there would be far fewer rebuild projects. sOUTHERN aIR,If you are an avid follower of aircraft restorations and in particular veteran and vintage types you would already know that the current scene is far more active and varied than the low ebb of the early sixties. Due to insurance costs and rarity its the case that several rebuilds seldom fly but they can be seen, apart from perhaps a dozen which the owners keep secure and out of view which they are entitled to. We are far luckier than car enthusiasts, its common for cars to be bought as investments and they are kept under dust covers in secret locations for many many years.
Well said Roobarb, I have never seen it but I am very happy the restorations happened and take pleasure from all the video and stills footage featuring this superb aircraft.
and as another aside regarding Secrets…the Harriers in Germany deployed to camoflaged field sites for exercises, all told to keep locations secret, but local taxi drivers knew which woodland area to go to !
” A spokesman for a Time Team special said there was evidence of ritual activity with the earliest layers revealing discarded empty plastic film containers ….”
Regarding the location of the photo, if it is Arran the location could be between Dougarie and Imachair on the West side of the island over Kilbrannan Sound. The clue, apart from the rising ground is the two marker boards on the shore showing the location of a buried submarine cable and you can see one on this chart marked http://www.visitmyharbour.com/harbours/west-scotland-northern-ireland/lamlash/chart/898EC4B83BC14/isle-of-arran-2017
The owner of JET ART says no to any flight of 130 due to insurance and other issues.

Or a direct swop as the Science museum just needs an example in my view..
The detailed responses in this thread remind me of a welcome trend in aviation magazine articles both print and on line. Although I served in the Royal Air Force I was not involved in airframe or engine work. So to gradually be educated into the skill, materials, innovations, blood, sweat and no doubt tears which go into the flying machines is a welcome change from squadron histories and airshow reviews. It helps the interested onlooker from taking for granted what they see flying or even ground running.
I would not just turn up Wallace, I am sure that you know that these flights have to be well planned in advance. As it turns out we are not going to have the time . It reminds me that the Dragon of the Science museum would be better displayed In Scotland given the use by Highalnd Airways.
Thanks agcat, missed that, could easily be a seasonal flyer.
Ok thanks, found out that he has an airstrip at his home and I will contact him via the micro light centre based there. It is the only airworthy Dragon that served with Highland Airways set up by Captain Fresson, his Moth GAAWO still flies.
