Thank you Paul, one of the best written and illustrated stories I have seen on line.

I think a point is being missed ref the fields and occupants. Fields offer a chance of a forced landing subject only to crop damage if clear of people. The motorway, bridge, roads ,built up areas are of course off limits for forced landings regardless of airshow activity. This has been mentioned by aircrew on several occasions.

Not the case Avion, in another thread here (header Shuttleworth Wildcat) the Wildcat has been noted as moving by road to Duxford about 9 days ago. Background to the airframe history has been posted there as well.

makes sense if it does head for Kermit Weeks,he has a well deserved good reputation for the rescue of many airframes which otherwise could be scrapped.

Neat video Duggy thanks, Flankerman I spotted in a reoprt a few days ago that 75 air tankers were involved. I have afeeling that film crews are being very wary about getting close the this one.

Sad , very sad that predjudice against the use of older aircraft has relegated the Martin Mars to being sidelined.Shows an ignorance on the part of official regional bodies ,they cannot understand that age is not the main factor in air safety. Given correct regular servicing age is not an isssue as long as the airframe is within limits.

Just keep growing a thick skin Daniel, you are bound to get a reaction what ever you post. For a reason I cannot understand there appears to be a critical minority who post on line and it is common to many pages and facebook. I welcome the news from all over, not everything makes the magazines which have space limits. Aircraft parts and full rebuilds all have a place as do models and photographs and peoples stories.
    keep the updates coming Daniel.

Perhaps the influence of civil aircraft markings and an indication of where the finishers had recently worked.
