One paper gone but the tactics for getting stories remain for others.
At one aircraft wreck dig some human remains were found and the dig stopped while police were informed . First on the scene was a local reporter, he had been tipped off by his police contact and he filed a story which was printed locally and then syndicated nationally. The story was not a positive one for the recovery group or the relatives of the crew, the crew all had graves and it was upsetting.
Around 9 years ago a friend of mine was hounded out of a small village due to a press report that he was running a brothel there. It was not true and no conviction took place. He moved many many miles away and cut contact with all his friends. The person who supplied the story was paid around £2,000 from News of the World, and that person was not a reporter.
So the idea of paying for information and also paying private investigators is part of the newspaper world at a certain tabloid level.

My bet is that this airframe is waiting for the engine to be repaired and cash flow is the hold up.Or the engine could be time expired and once again waiting for overhaul. It is very costly if you are a solo owner without a good income to support ownership and airframes sit waiting in many places until cash shows up. Shared ownership seems a better way to keep aircraft airworthy on a lower income.
If the engine is the problem then this 150 is worth scrap value only.
Help me solve a Gunbus puzzle, I spotted a Gunbus fastened to the front of the big cinema in Leicester Square London ages ago. My spotter logs are hidden away , but dont ever recall finding out which one it was. Could it have been used in that film where the Tallmantz Grumman Duck attacked a German cruiser up a tropical river?
Firebex makes some very good points relating to what happened in the early days of BAPC at a time when Control Column mag was our only journal.Even non members of BAPc did a lot of good work and continue to do so, you really do not have to be a member to make a difference.
He shares a sense of frustration with me when a solution to a new home for XF 708 was offered and turned down. We do now have a speedier method of passing around info when an airframe is under threat but it is incredibly annoying when refusal occurs.
JDK adds more from his own experience and I agree that UK aviation heritage preservation is in a very good state compared to 40 years ago .
Chox, getting youngsters interested in museums is very worthwhile.
Useful if you know it was registered GATVP,

Really sad news.
I get a uneasy feeling when I have not got all the circuit traffic, joins and deps visual and wish that pilots in command would ask for further info from air traffic to help locate the traffic.
I vote for a Chipmunk, nearer to a warbird flight without being too much to take in and far cheaper. I have about 30 hours In Chipmunks and over 400 in Cessnas so I do have experience to quote from.
Most are based in South of the Uk and this one is in your budget..

Can also be known as a register of aircraft mortgages and ownership is a complex issue so what is shown on the CAA database is only one part of the story. As soon as you begin to investigate ownership of costly items you become mired in an often confusing area best left to those who are being paid to do this work. People who are employed often sign an in confidence clause which means they will not discuss any aspect of work or company.
Fishing for info on a forum such as this one is pointless when it comes to current commercial projects. Press releases and I include blogs are a good source of info.
No one will risk getting the sack for leaking info.
ZRX 61 be careful, libel laws apply to internet posts and this forum is archived very quickly on google.
No such luck, ATC units have to raise funds for transport.
I have a box of clippings from Aviation News and thought at one stage I could reverse engineer a handwritten data base. And then the author decided to publish it in a book HGW, but i still have those clippings and think they should fetch a lot on ebay if TIGHAR bid.
Is this the TIGHAR exped??
Landowner wanted some left as a memorial,it was a minor miracle that any parts were officially recovered.
