the Mitsubishi J8M1 Shusui was a new one to me , thanks for sharing the link
the wheels are quite special , Traditionally made of wood, these are cast in longer-lasting aircraft aluminium by Australian racing car designer, Terry Sainty, and have roller bearings to ensure the smoothest ride.
“They are made from extremely strong and light aero-grade aluminium and use the technology we use for our drag racing,’’ Mr Sainty, 44, said yesterday.”
I love it too..I think it is called Midget Mustang !
Here with retracts !

It actually measures slightly bigger than my 1200 hp bigger engined Supa Pony ( supa cause it is supa sonic in dive ).
wow that looks great with retracts and the polished finish , they are a great looking little plane
the little Bushby Mustang always appealed to me , they do get along quite well on 115 hp or so

the ballistic chute would most likely of been the only option in that area as it is very rough terrain , nice slow descent , bet they are glad they had one
this “how low can you go” if that’s what it was , went pear shaped with the loss of 3 lives

came across this story from the book ‘They Shall Not Pass Unseen’ by Ivan Southall
http://www.n461.com/n461_story.html
regarding the Sunderland Ju88 dogfight
“Incendiary bullets ripped up the cockpit. Walkers compass blew up and sprayed him with blazing alcohol. Liquid fire splashed across the bridge and poured down the companionway into the bow compartment. ”
wonder how many pilots got burns from compass fires

from google this site

“The engine burns a
special T-6 high density fuel, with a freezing point of -62.2 deg C, a
flash point of 54.4 deg C and a density of 0.83, which is slightly
heavier than the USN JP-5 and USAF JP-6 high density fuels. At
supersonic speeds water/methanol mixture is injected into the inlet to
cool the compressor.
mmm if the water runout or stopped it would be all over , brave pilots indeed
“open house” is declared and anyone can post the next picture.
