Basics such as space, cleanliness and facilities.
Sometimes just an exhibit or the way an exhibit is presented that makes you think WOW!
Also personally I like a building with some architectural merits.
And less is more. In my mind lots of stuff (and usually badly displayed), isn’t better than spending resources on fewer well presented and properly conserved exhibits.
That looks like quality workmanship. Great to see it happening and I look forward to it’s eventual completion.
There were a number of components on display in the Deutsches Tecnikmuseum in Berlin
Photos were taken by myself in 2011
Visited there in 2012.
It’s a wonderful museum and worth the effort to get there. I got the shuttle bus to and from the terminal also, which worked well.
Best thing about the day is (I asked if I could) and they let me see the JU88, and was even allowed to take this photo.

I highly recommend Norway to anyone. Found the food expensive, but accommodation can be found cheaply if you look.
It would be good if at the end of it’s life it could be ferried back to Belfast Sydenham/ George Best/City Airport, the place of it’s birth.
That would be great.
Just a pity Belfast doesn’t have a proper aviation museum to put it in :apologetic:
Maybe even next to the big shiny building that’s all about a certain the ship that sank.
I checked what records I have for Whitley incidents in Northern Ireland but the only two I’m aware of at Aldergrove were in 1942 and 43, and neither related to 502 Squadron.
I’d also love to see the stills archive.
Life magazine might not have the originals.
I’ve found quite a lot of images used in the magazine from 1930’s to 40’s are now in the Associated Press archive.
Might be worth a look. Try something like North Africa, or Desert in the advanced search with a 39 to 45 date range.
Would also appear to be some tanks on the island:
Looks bit like….

IWM collections is as good a place to start as any although may require some lateral thinking to find the images
The Fw-190 was on site last June dismantled at the back of the building. Looked pretty well done and dusted then, I guess they were just waiting for right time to install it.
At least…try and watch for the plane. I know its difficult.
Thanks for the thoughts and input guys.
I’d heard an opinion at one point that it was almost essential to preserve a Harrier here, because of the SC.1 connection. An argument which I didn’t see the logic in.
I even stole his logo!
