I never even knew about the Meteors involvement in the engine development. Thanks for posting that.
The UAS have one too. Last I heard it’d been repainted
Consider yourselves all lucky you can get to a decent aviation museum, without either a sea crossing by ferry or a flight to get there. I always thought getting to Hendon was relatively easy…once I’d made it to London.
Did anything become of the remains of Z2186 that crashed in Snowdonia.
Sizeable parts recovered…where are they now?
Heard the spitfire track played a few times on the radio (or wireless) , but I’ve only really warmed to it since listening to it on the Rough Trade counter culture CD. Have to say I do quite like it now.
I’ll maybe give the album a listen on spotify.
Some shots from its arrival at Duxford:

I’d be pretty sure the aircraft will have a clean and some conservation work carried out. But certainly not a repaint.
Sadly, in a small non accredited collection, I recently saw an example of a 50’s jet in totally original paint having panels removed and stripped to bare metal then repainted with a Halfords spray can, with runs on it. That, and an original 1930’s blueprint laminated! Both items irreversibly damaged.
Might be of some help with the Sturgeon if you haven’t seen it before.
There’s quite a good account of the restoration of the NASM example in Robert Mikesh’s book ‘Restoring museum aircraft’.
The Stirling photograph is at Maghaberry.
The aircraft were there for scrapping some reputedly straight off the production line. Mostly Mk IV. There are three photo’s in this series, here’s one of the others.
Hi Cees
This is from the Aviaeology 1/32 Beaufighter decal sheet.
They might be worth contacting

Just thought I’d post a period shot for comparison

This is the Ju88 at Gardermoen
Not a great comparison picture, but there’s certainly similarities visible
I’m not sure if this was posted before, but this dig took place a few years ago.
If it’s anything to go by, I’m sure there’s others.
