The Chilton flown Gp Capt E.L. Mole is listed in the runners and riders, but no mention of how it did. Second was Nighthawk G-AGWT..Third was Hawk Trainer G-AGLK.
Quite a turn out for the race 75 entries, 67 stated, 61 finished. Total prize money was £2,350…which no doubt accouted for the many entrants!
Yes it is a bit brass monkey back in blighty, hope it is better down S.W France?
Cheers, C.
PS remind me of your email if you need a scan
..From said Putnam volume winner was Proctor G-AHUZ flown by N.W. Charlton.
There is a full list of entrants inthe book..But alas no mention of the airfields to which they dispersed to.
Do I need to warm up my scanner!!!?
Cheers, C
SM845….currently a bit further south than DX, down the M11 around the M25..A3 and across the Solent etc!!
North American Harvard / T.6 / Texan… call it what you will?
Not ANother..but still an eastern-bloc machine with a radial!!
..yes as indicated by the arrow!
Not sure about the inspection stamp, looks to be from a sub-contractor rather than Supermarine.
The position of the aileron bell-crank assembly in the wing as indicated by the arrow…. Looks to be from an early Mk Spit, the lever riveted to the bell-crank arm..later ones were bolted.
Whilst rummaging through a box of old photos ..looking for something else!
Came across these two, Battle and Blenheim remains on Salisbury Plain (many years ago), both photos taken by the late Peter Foote.
Can but suggest that you contact the good people at the excellent Vickers Viscount site…everything you wanted to know about the Viscount but were afraid to ask etc. http://www.vickersviscount.net
More details of the G-AOHU incident can be found, under the relevant individual aircraft history.

Nice one..the usual super ‘Forum’ service.
Was an old press clipping that I was looking at, the Freighter stopped just a few feet from the railway line and overhead cables. No visible damage to the aircraft..probably just a change of undies required!
Thanks, Chumpy.
Just on a point of accuracy re the thread title..whilst the NDN Firecracker was designed by Desmond Norman. It was never a product of the Britten Norman (B-N) company.
Desmond had long since left BN to do his ‘own thing’, the three ‘Turbines’ were built at Sandown, Isle of Wight. Photo of G-SFTR returning from an early sortie at Sandown in December 1983.
The other two, G-SFTS and G-SFTT flew during the spring and summer of 1984.
Cheers, Chumpy.
A few rather grainy 1970’s snaps from the archive…just another day at Blackbushe….(All quite normal when Doug Arnold owned the place!).
The unidentified CASA 2.111 photo posted by HPIII, is G-BDYA.
Cheers, Chumpy.
G-NRDC departed Sandown about a year ago, to a location in West Sussex. (no names, but the new owner well known for his recovery of WW2 aircraft from the former Soviet Union!).
Have since been told that he sold the Fieldmaster on to a farming / agricultral museum. Location unknown but meant to be ‘near’ Duxford.
Any offers???
Have seen this guy’s gas welding in the past most impressive! http://www.markcolemetalforming.com
