Aha! Another Yak herder.
Here is mine, not quite as spangly clean as yours I’m afraid 🙁
I like the photo of the Cessna 182 with a radar dish mounted on the roof. what sort of nav aid is that? 😉
It suffered an engine failure at Keevil a couple of weekends ago. No damage other then to the engine.
You saw it on its way home to Biggin Hill to be repaired.
The pyros were originally planned as part of an ‘air power’ demonstration by combined military services using fixed and rotary wing craft. It was scrubbed by the MoD at the 11th hour. 😡
Rather than waste the stuff it was decided to let them off during the B17 and P51 acts. 😀
…..and if anyone is interested in Eastern bloc stuff then AN72 ESNOI is due in on Friday and Saturday on totally un-Air Fair related business…..
That Wasp re-appeared in the Control Tower car park at Biggin Hill on the 31st May 2006. Still on its trailer.
It always has overnighted here in the past so maybe it wasn’t sold on Ebay after all!
The display will run for approx five and half hours each day. Nothing particularly new or spectacular on the list of flying and static aircraft. Should just be a standard show worth going to if the weathers good.
First arrival on Friday should be the Belgian Air Force Magister at 0930, subject to delays, with the main arrival and practice window starting at around 1130.
Shots involving G-MKSS, including the Police car chase were filmed at Biggin. Some others were filmed at Dunsfold where G-DAKS also appeared in the background. That meant that G-DAKS had to be relocated to Biggin for continuity purposes during the HS125 scenes.
Biggin Tower was internally converted to represent Paris tower and the fight scene was also filmed in Biggin tower.

The Pilots Pals calendar was produced from the early 1970’s until 2000 (or was it 2001).
The Pilots Pals bar still runs at Biggin Hill and many of the photos taken for the calendar adorn the walls.
