More from Newark!
“A Quick Guide for Cockpit-Fest 21 has now been added to the museum website & it contains all of the key information.
The fuselage frames and wing sections for the Hendon Wallace were originally saved by the founders of Newark Air Museum from woods near RAF Cranwell in the early 1960s.
However Newark has no involvement with any new Westland items!

Newark Air Museum’s Step 4 Covid plans: “After consultation with our staff, museum members & some members of the public the museum trustees have decided to still encourage social distancing & other Covid-19 mitigation measures. These measures are outlined here http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/Visiting_In_Summer_2021
They are in line with requests from the government & good practice guidelines issued by various Visitor Attraction bodies.”
Cockpit-Fest update now live: “Another update has been added to the museum website for Cockpit-Fest 21 – this incorporates several updates advised at last weekend’s Aeroboot event!
Thank you for the various bits of feedback, which I will share with everyone at Newark Air Museum who was involved with organising/running the event.
Air Ministry – a post-event evaluation will take place prior to reaching the final decision about running another Aeroboot alongside Cockpit-Fest 21 in late August. This process will also be informed by any announcements from HMG later today.
I had planned to bring round a note to that effect on Saturday, but this was disrupted by my own 36 hours in isolation on Weds/Thurs last week pending my son’s Covid-PCR test result.
If a positive decision is made to run another alongside Cockpit-Fest 21 the stallholders from Saturday will get the first opportunity to rebook.
hawker1966 – it’s good to hear that your long journey was considered worthwhile and that you made some purchases.
FarlamAirframes – thanks again and it was good to become the temporary repository for the canopy that is migrating south; good to hear that the ‘flux-capacitor’ held out to Scotch Corner, Elon will be pleased!!
