Further changes may also be required later in the month.”
Thanks again to you both.
Air Ministry – the Autojumble date has been noted; but there are ongoing challenges with the shared access when that event is held and the marshalling; plus signage challenges with the organiser and the ‘disgruntled visitors’ that the museum has to deal with in the days leading up to those events. Discussions ongoing with the landlord!
Bunsen Honeydew – feedback appreciated and noted; basically you need to make sure GOK is on time! See you again hopefully quite soon!!
Your comments are noted, and you will no doubt see the email that has also been sent out (fast evolving situation in part prompted by your recent post) – mixed feedback coming in so far, but there seems to be some interest!
Not sure about the roast chestnuts though, but hopefully that’s not a deal breaker!!
Poll details re Aeroboot / Aerojumble on the museum’s Twitter timeline:
“Some market research regarding Aeroboot / Aerojumble events at the museum – would you attend an Outdoor Sale in late October?
Attend as seller
Attend as a buyer
Only attend an indoor event
Would not attend”
Thank you for the feedback Air Ministry, which I will feedback to the troops – sorry about the ‘music’, which was out of the museum’s control!
Another Aeroboot this year is in the balance; ideally this would be an indoor sale but the museum is not 100% confident that it could be hosted in a Covid-Secure manner.
Genuine question, that’s about to be asked on the museum’s Twitter timeline, would you take a stall and, or attend another Outdoor Sale in late October?
From Newark!
“A big thank you to everyone who attended Cockpit-Fest 21 in whatever capacity; a full thank you message & a list of the winners in now on the website!

It was a record breaking weekend for the museum!!”
It’s worth remembering that for a number of years post-World War II 58 MU had a depot / storage facility at RAF Newton, so you may not just have to consider types that served there.
One of Newark Air Museum’s founders (sadly now deceased) dined out on the parts that he ‘salvaged’ from their compound.
Just the usual way in to the event, which is the same for most Showground events at present due to there being a Covid Vaccination Centre on the Showground that uses one of their other main entrances.
Latest update is that most festival traffic might actually be today, as it starts tonight and runs into Saturday with people camping over – also yesterday the festival organiser indicated that they would put in additional marshals to help filter out museum traffic.
This has been an issue with the Autojumble which can plug access a bit for short periods. A similar event last week (Vegan Camp Out) didn’t cause too many direct access issue onto the site (again arrivals on Friday), but the surrounding roads were a challenge; as they have been most weekends this summer with East Coast traffic on the A17, A46, A1133 and A1.
New from Newark: “Heads Up for Cockpit-Fest 21 please allow extra time if arriving to set up on Fri & visiting on Sat – Stonedead Music Festival visitors are sharing access off Drove Lane on to Vulcan Way – please advise their marshals that you are visiting us & not the Festival.
Sorry for any inconvenience!”
