Further update from Newark:
“An update has been added to the NAM website with further details about the Autumn Aeroboot / Aerojumble that takes place on our Southfield Site on Saturday 26th September, 2020!
What ever time you set for opening an event / museum the great British public will always turn up early.
Newark Air Museum has opted not to go down the pre-booking route and is coping quite nicely with steady visitor flows and turnover of visitors across each day.
I have noticed that at least one other museum has already lifted the exclusive need to pre-book to make a visit.
Posted elsewhere: “Twenty two of the sellers that had space booked at the cancelled spring indoor event have now indicated that they will sell at the event; we have just emails the remainder of our mailing list to give them an opportunity to take some of the remaining space at this outdoor event on Saturday 26th September 2020.”
Emails were sent out last night to stallholders from NAM’s cancelled spring 2020 Aeroboot/Aerojumble sale; offering space at the now confirmed Autumn Outdoor Sale that’s set for Saturday 26th September 2020.
Further news will follow in due course about some face to face aviation trading!
Things seem to be falling in to place quite nicely and it’s likely that the stallholders who had spaces booked at the sale that was cancelled in April will be contacted quite soon, about standing at the proposed outdoor sale in September!
Some external equipment hire factors are currently being addressed, which may mean that a quicker decision is reached on this proposal!
I will add that request to the request list, the only possible issue might be getting a museum volunteer to stay on site Friday night – I will see what transpires; first I need to persuade everyone that it’s a good idea!
Further to the post in the Newark Air Museum Briefing thread I am currently investigating / lobbying for an open air Aeroboot on Saturday 26th September 2020 – similar to the one that normally accompanies Cockpit-Fest; still work in progress and not confirmed.
Thank you both for the feedback, which will be fed back into the deliberations!
Asking the following on behalf of Newark Air Museum:
There’s a poll running on Twitter so I thought it might be worth asking the same questions on here:
“We’ve noticed that Car Boot Sales are back plus an antique event on Vulcan Way so here’s some genuine market research for a possible outdoor Aeroboot/Aerojumble in September 2020 would you?
Attend as a seller
Attend as a buyer
Not attend at all”

“The museum enjoyed its first day back open after the lockdown closure. We’d like to send thanks to everyone who helped make it happen and those who visited; a quick debrief has been completed and we’re looking forward to opening at 10am on Thursday.
Especially nice to report some great post-lockdown ‘Retail Therapy’ in the Museum Shop!
