AWM Mosquito
Here are a couple of pics of the Australian War Memorial’s Mosquito PR Mk 41 A52-319.
Sorry about the quality but very hard place to take a photo.
DB Spitfire
Funny this thread re-surfaced because right at this moment I am reading “Willy Messerschmitt” by Frank Vann.
In the Chapter titled “Problems with the Bf 109” There is made mention about the DB Spitfire (using a DB601N). What is intersting is the mention of re-engining a Bf 109 with a RR Merlin.
Quoted from a Messerschmitt memo
“The Daimler-Benz company is making the following exchange: they are installing the DB601 engine ina Spitfire and the Rolls-Royce Merlin in an Me 109. I have no objection to this trial.
Daimler-Benz are carrying out the exchange to demonstrate that the Spitfire is better with their engine and that the Me 109 with the Merlin is worse.”
However the book then goes on to say that no correspondence survives on this so there is no evidence that the RR/Bf 109 exchange took place.
One has to wonder wether it did and as Willy Messerschmitt worked with Hispano in Spain after the work that he did in fact design the HA-1112.
The book also makes mention of installing Spitfire radiators on Bf 109 as it was felt that it may be more efficent than the one currently on the aircraft.
I will say just on the book that it is a good read and does not gloss over Messerschmitts personality, particularily his affiliation to the Nazi Party and that he was not adverse to a few underhanded tricks to get his way. Incidently the author conjectures that the Bf 110 that Rudolph Hess flew to the UK was infact a either a gift from Messerschmitt or privately owned by Him, bought directly from the company and not a current Luftwaffe aircraft.

But his logic is common among many Australians. Australians fear Asian countries. There was considerable political uproar about the TNI/AU buying 4 Flankers!

Unfortunately your profile doesn’t say where you are from, so I’ll assume not Australia. Now before I start I do not believe in a potential SEA invasion of Australia
Funnily enough though even though I’ll class myself as well informed I failed to notice any “considerable political uproar”. Now I am very well aware of the TNI/AU Flankers and I don’t know what Indonesia is thinking as 4 will never be an effective force.
However when Australia took delivery of 15 F-111G aircraft the screams from the Indonesian Government could be heard all the way from Melbourne.
Now as far as Dr Kopp is concerned please don’t tar all Australians with the CK brush. Most people here and particularily in the knowning circle treat him as a joke too.
Don Bradman
Don Bradman’s Service rcord as follows

What is the Biplane?
Unlike a lot of other Air Forces The Omani’s believe that ther eal indication of a pilots skill is to fly as low as possible. Sometimes they do have problems but there is also a lot of shots of Strikemasters and Hunters doing the same.
They are dead set true.
Avalon
Missed some
Yes the Drover is airworthy, kinda different aircraft though. They did great work for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. I’ve had a flight in a Wilga too with no doors. It was absolutely awesome
Hi Oz,
Yes to both. It was the first time I’d seen the Avenger and I was taken aback by the noise. Makes a T-6 sound quiet.
Hi Gnome,
Yes it is for the LIFT. The PC-9 Trainers are in Red, white and blue
