Incidentally, there were many highlights in the static (that gorgeous Fouga Magister for one), but the HAC DH.9 I think stole the show:

It was interesting to see that the Pontiac GTO U-2 chase, used until last week (and before that a Ford Mustang), has been replaced by a pair of Tesla saloons. The wing pogos are still carried in a pickup or SUV though.
My previous viewings of U-2s have been rare and fleeting, and it’s been a real pleasure to see four different machines this week. And for the enthusiast, saving the most interesting example for static was inspired, even if some weren’t perceptive enough to appreciate it.
I think it’s worth highlighting that the article says, “…Ridley Scott is aiming to get in on the action, targeting a movie set during the Battle Of Britain”.
Which doesn’t necessarily mean that there will be much (or indeed any) aviation content.
B-52 ETA circa 8am Wed.
Noted that the B52’s and U2 are attending RIAT (initial post above), but aside from cr@p 80’s bands, on the aircraft side a U-2 has already arrived and a B-52 due tomorrow.
Glad to see pilot OK and P-51 looks bent but fixable. And at least your descriptions here agree with the photos of it high and dry in a field of wheat: numerous quotes in the Duxford thread state that it ditched!!
Ditched in a lake maybe? Or forced-landed in a field…
Maybe you should try watching the BBC Wimbledon coverage: Mark Petchey’s (mid-Atlantic?) ‘accent’, dropping g’s, h’s and rounding t’s and n’s left me oblivious to what he was saying most of the time. It took me a long while to realise that when he said “cellar core” he was referring to Centre Court!!!
No idea where he comes from, but as with Legends, you’d think that a prerequisite for commentary would be an ability to clearly convey information…
Seems pretty unlikely unless they brave it and do a flight sans canopy.
Sad to report that Midair’s Hunter T.8C XE665/G-BWGM now seems to have taken up gate guard duties outside Kemble’s restaurant. In fact I guess it’s in safe hands at least.

Egyptian PT: that is one of my favourites: hadn’t heard it in many a year!
🙂
Never let the truth get in the way of a good story. That Daily Fail article is embarrassing in its childish disregard of facts, evidence or historical context. Remember that all this happened in 1937 and not 1943: The Fail’s use of the words ‘enemy’ and ‘prisoners of war’ are a deliberate attempt to skew this flimsy non-story into some convoluted re-writing of what really occurred and attribute it with a respect it does not deserve in any way.
Same reason you’d have armourers at most RAF training stations: rifle training. There was a range on the northwest side of RAF Cherhill.
I do hope they keep the tanks on.
“No, thank you very much. You did it already.”
Agreed. Puts me in mind of the witticism “The biggest c*cks crow the loudest”.
So after a nasty bout of mutual fellatio, any chance that we could get back to some non-exclusive exchange?
