This is a great thread on BoB Combat Reports with scans of real and faked examples as well as some pointers for unwary buyers, perhaps you could contact some of the posters. Great read for everyone else who may not have been a member when this was discussed too.

    Hi Hampden

Of the 5 midget subs involved in the attack, one successfully entered the Harbor but was destroyed before it could launch its torpedoes, 2 others were sunk or destroyed outside the harbor, one was found in 1960 still with its torpedoes. This leaves one sub unnaccounted for so it is possible that it entered the harbor and fired its torpedoes then escaped and was lost at sea but unless it is found no one will ever know.

And what about all those people who call us Australians ‘Aussies’! Where will it end?

I read a book by an Aussie POW working on the Burma railway, his Japanese captors were extremely upset to be called a Jap and to do so usually ended up with a severe beating, sometimes so severe that you would end up in the ‘hospital’. On the other hand they were perfectly happy being called Nips as a short form of Nippon.

    Hello Justin

You are doing a great effort with all of the promoting and it sounds like the event is getting bigger by the day. I love waiting to see what you have done next.

All joking aside I think it is great every time I see a young person, male or female, showing an interest in aviation in any form instead of being glued to the couch playing Play Station or attending endless parties etc..

At around the 2.24 min mark you can see flak bursting in the sky, were they using live rounds for this effect?

    Hi Geoff

Thanks for sharing your collection with us. Do you have any spare parts by chance? I am looking for one of the white rectangular knobs from the GEE indicator. Also you wouldn’t have a diagram or photo of what a GEE indicator looks like when it is turned on?

    Thanks Paul

    Hi Justin

Thanks for the info and photos. To be frank I am a little surprised, I knew that there were cockpit collectors in the US but I didn’t realise that they supported so many events / airshows. Do you guys get invited to the AF airshows and other events or do you arrange it so that you are invited? I would like to hear more about the movement over there and would definitely like to see more photos.

I own 4 cockpits but unfortunately am stuck in a backwater of the world where the opportunities that you enjoy just do not exist. I saw on Deweys website that he is booked for nearly every weekend this year, that is just amazing! Would love to create closer ties with the cockpit movement over there so just drop me a PM whenever you feel like it.

    Paul

PS Your DC8 looks really cool but possibly a tad large for easy movement.

This A7 Corsair cockpit was for sale on ebay a couple of years ago. They may be interested in coming to your event.

There are plenty of photos of enthusiasts enjoying the cockpit, worth a look! Do you guys at Newark attract that crowd?
