thanx for all the replys guys – it put my curiosity to bed and answered my questions. thanx for all the input
thats real sad…… to survive the crash and then not make it later…..
last one was cancelled…… instaed we were made to endure Mrs Horsey Camila parker Bowles!
thanx for the reply rob. Coomer mentions lack of repair facilites. the ones there could have flown back but only after repair and all there was in north africa was tea and fuel! it says there should have been a team of mechanics and spares there….. just curious if they eventually fixed them and flew them back or if they was axed. say waster of that was the case.
ta Moggy…… couldnt see how i rattles a cage. thanx for that :0)
spammed??? why is this spamming…… ???????????? confused……..
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
doesnt look to be too much damage there! got away lightly by the looks of it…. what do you all think?
id be interested to see them…. curious about how he ‘overshot’
funny…. after reading peter vachers book on r1184 i thoughtt hem same. non of the original fuselage tubing was used just the end fittings IIRC they said the wing couldnt be used either. most of the centre section was also new. dont get me wrong im not moaning as i like everyone else is chuffed that he managed to get the plane out of india and that its back in the air at last…… in fact i admire the chap! but how much of r1148 is r1148?
sounds like what happened when stapleford wanted to lay their ashphalt ‘starter strip’ the outcry was silly….. mind you they got it…. and im glad they did…. makes the airfield more viable from a business point of view and we still get to retain a genuine war time field rather than build houses on it. wha made us giggle is that with the starter strip a/c were able to have shorter take off runs and were then higher over the village that was complaining…….. anyway ramble over…. off to bed!
a fantastic gesture.
i always enjoyed reading his posts…. he gave me sound advice about my PPL and future CPL…. he even offered tro take me flying! yet i have never met the man…… a sign of a true gentleman.
thoughts are with his family at this time. makes you realise that we can all take part in sports (ie flying) that are quiet risky (if you ask me) yet be taken by something we all take for granted – the car.
once again, a very sad loss and prayers and thoughts to his family xxx
thats a real shame – glad noone was hurt as thats the main thing.
as you say looking at he wreckage it looks like that all that stands in the way of a re-build is time and money – i hope if they dont have nboth they dont scrape her and maybe sell her on for future generations to have a go!
the 30% rings true to me, as im sure i saw a doc on Discovery wings says that the narrow undcart made landing and taking off hazardous.
Bloody good show!!!! will it be a legends (groan…….) just kidding.
I cant believe after reading this forum for years that i have never come accross this. fantastic thats all i can say…. fantastic
