Thanks Moggy, mature response as usual
You are welcome. I am sure you have read post #17?
There were two remaining ones left in the yard sold on Ebay by the new occupants of the yard, surprised you weren’t on the case Stuart
Damn and blast! although to be fair I haven’t been to their yard for ten years now; from memory, Steve told me that they couldn’t be sold, but then he told me a lot of things, equally inaccurate.
Did Hanningfield metals not have a few of them?
‘its not for a Merlin engine’
Where did that bit go from the original ad?
[I”]This item needs to be collect as it is too heavy to post!”[/I]
Quite a long way to come for it then….
Don’t think it’s Dart; I had one and they are outwardly similar to Spitfire IX, certainly the one I had was 4 blade. (also had one from a Tyne, and they are huge)
Yes granted, but I recall Terry A, (who used to manufacture them) saying they were heavier, and the heaviest by far were those made by Feggins Brown for PoC.
It was always my understanding that the replicas were heavier than the originals?
“One document refers to D-Day1 – June 7 1944 – and mentions difficulties in setting up a ten-mile telephone cable as troops continued advancing into northern France.”
Whatever “D-Day1” means, I would have thought that a week in, (June 7) might have beeen reasonable enough time to advance 10 miles; of course the July error (earlier in the article) casts some doubt over almost every other word……
Here’s one they made earlier! I believe there was an alternative construction method that split the frames at the datum, as opposed to longitudinally.(or top to bottom even!)
What is the significance of the log cabin, is it as it looks a nordic control tower?
Although reading further, you can suggest a topic for coverage by themselves.
I watched this quite recently, and have been wondering, was it ever going to get up off that “runway;” (I use the word advisedly) looking at the fire, and the lack of action to fight it, the question in my mind is “was it insured”?
Any pictures of the C119 Simon?
Can’t see a light board on the back of it………
