Merry Christmas folks.
Great pics.
The Vampire at Carlisle Airport has recently been taken off display. It has been partially dismantled and taken into the museum workshops for restoration over the winter. Hopefully it will be back on display in better condition in the spring.

Part of the display of my late father’s RAF artefacts at Solway Aviation Museum.
You might find items such as the dog tag, buttons or badge as shown here.
Great new website and I learned about it here first – just been into the old web site last week and just renewed my membership for 2007.
Great pics, thanks for posting. MAM is one of my favourites – a good collection maintained in good condition and a well stocked shop. I just wish the train people on the site next door would learn to care for their rolling stock the way MAM care for their aircraft.
Brilliant piece of nostalgia, and the flypast shots are very good for the video technology of twenty odd years ago. I haven’t been back to Strathallan for many years. Shame there’s no Mossies flying in the UK these days.
Superb photos, Darren. East Kirkby has real atmosphere, especially when there are Merlins running. I visited there on a wet day last month when I took a few rather poor photos of the Lanc. taxying and the Spit. in the hangar.

This nice Piper Cub was seen at Campbeltown’s Machrihanish Airport on the occasion of Kintyre Air Show, 22nd July, 2006.
British Airways, wanted the plane to stay on view in the city, to continue serving as a billboard for the airline
Well this might have made commercial sense if they still operated a few other aircraft of the same type.
I’ve seen the Chipmunk shown on the Skylark home page parked up on Apron Echo at Prestwick when I’ve been there over the summer. I enquired about it at the Flight Centre Desk as I wanted to take a closer look and some photos but the lady at the desk said it wasn’t one of theirs.
Did you get a chance to walk round “Slaughter All”, still a good few buildings standing there.
A few pics from the same day – a very poignant place.

Great photos and good news about the Argosy going indoors.
Well after seeing it on this thread, I’ve now bought one of the 1/200 scale diecast models on e-bay and all I need now is a copy of the book once its published. I’m sure there is enough interest out there in this aircraft to justify publishing the book.
Super photos, thanks for posting them.
