It’s funny that why should the world listen to a country like New Zealand of few million brain freezed people anyways, besides, maybe the people there are bought out by Saddam’s relatives living there surely Garry has.Text
This is the reason why you Yanks will always be misunderstood. Because with such bloody expressions you are not making yourself any more popular. Don’t you understand that its countries like NZ which you need the most? If there’s such a thing like western society, than NZ is part of it. It’s not because nobody listens to Bush that we don’t care anymore about what the Americans think. It’s not only the American administration that has to change, but also the mentality among the people.

RE: Sociological question
Yeah I agree reform is a must. But we can’t help you are living so isolated from the rest of Europe. Well, the US is about 20 times as far as the European continent so it’s up to you which way you are heading. ๐
BTW, the best diplomats in the EU are Spaniards. I think Solana could use some more siesta for example. BTW, the Parliament-buildings are entirely paid by Belgium, France and Luxembourg, so no pound ever went into these projects.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-07-02 AT 12:14ย PM (GMT)]My comments on the US administration is on the current administration, not on the one from 60 years ago.
A very wise conclusion, the best argument we could come up with I guess. We should judge what happens today, I mean we don’t thank the Arabs every day for introducing our metric system, or when was the last time US was gratefull towards France? It was France who liberated the US from the British. Maybe it’s time we ask back the statue of liberty and place it somewhere on the Champ’s elysee.
“In 1944 we invade Normandy to defeat the Nazi’s.”
Ahh so the Nazis were defeated during D day… their colapse had nothing to do with their enormous defeats in the East the year before?
In 1944 we invade Normandy with the Canadians and the British and the Aussies and the Kiwis and quite a few Polish troops and other Europeans to get to the previously agreed (with Stalin) line through europe before Stalin decides to take it all. Nothing more nothing less.
Indeed, and how about the Russians? They lost 20 million troops? Can you imagine? When was the last time we thanked the Russians for sacrifying their lives, or are they less important than American or European lives? The Russians were already at Torgau when they met Americans, if you still think Russia wouldn’t have won WWII on its own you are too naive. Sure, it would cost them a couple of more million lives, but eventually we would all be speaking Russian and flying MiG’s instead of F-16s in Europe. I’m not saying that would be a better situation, in contrary.

RE: Morocco invades Spain
Well an invasion of Spain would be the stupidest thing Morocco could ever do, they would lose all support in Europe and the west. But Ceuta, however, is a very complicated case. Spain has build a fence around the area, so no Moroccons will be able to cross borders and get into Spain (and the EU). Spain wants to patrol the Mediterranian with naval vessels under a EU-flag. The UK, normally a EU-skeptical country also wanted this to happen, but there was no agreement made on the EU-summit in Sevilla. In the meantime Spain should remain calm. A war doesn’t sound realistic, and I don’t think the Moroccan armed forces are able to capture the cannary Islands. Even without help from the EU/NATO Spain could easily win this war.
Anyway, I also read in the newspaper today there were tensions between Madrid and Tanger, but I didn’t know they were that big. I thought some simple border disputes. Keep me up to date!

RE: a stupid question but are
The Mongoose never became a succes, the MB339 did. The Mongoose “the only animal which eats Cobra’s” ๐ Ironically, the Cobra has beaten the Mongoose in almost every competition. It’s a shame to see that italian arms are always related with corruption etc. In Belgium, no politican dares to pronounce the word Agusta or he’ll be send home.
And what about the AMX, also a joint-project, but this time , not with another European partner.

100 % true, but also remember without Europe and Japan US would never have trading partners and thus couldn’t devellop itself that much. Go walk 10 minutes in Europe and you’ll see a McDonalds at every corner of the street. US has benefitted a lot from WWII, Europe lost more. Europe now has ‘an American way of life’. This would have never happened without WWII.

It is not the same people; it happened 55 years ago. Much has happened since then, like the cold war, were German families have been seperated.

RE: โJews onlyโ urban communit
Well first of all I only quoted Education minister Livnat. So its up to him to decide if zionist is the propper word. I hope that somebody in his position does know why he uses zionist state, maybe you should ask him.
“Education minister Livnat stated that โThe vote in the government was a triumph for those who support Israel as a Jewish Zionist democratic state on those who view Israel as the state of all its citizens.โ “
In short, Geforce, don’t count you’re chickens before they’re hatched. This law is about nothing more than a few pathetic legislators who wish to prop up their pathetic position in their pathetic insignificant parties. Israel is not going to change that fast, and not without a fight from those among us who know that this proposition is not what our parents fought for.
Well, than I can only be glad to hear this. Again, the media was wrong, but it is hard to find exact info on this matter. But I know Israel has other things to worry about, but why don’t they put a bit more efforts in their PR to avoid things like this? The European media was already talking about fundemantalists, I don’t know what’s true of it, but Israel should take care of its press relises.

RE: Sociological question
Yeah, was true. In 1999 the comission had to resign due a corruption scandal, but corruption and democracy have always been closely connected. 2B BP is not that much Rabie. Spain will have to pay more when Europe will expand (if this ever happens ofcourse because it seems like the EU will be a rich-only club for the next 20 years).
