Ryanair still are a bunch of idiots.

In Belgium there’s such a law. In fact, it was prohibited to compare two companies in advertisments untill 2 years ago. Ryanair was the first one who uses this kind of commerciandising.

They get the money from the government just to fly from that airport … because the french-speaking gov. wants to make it difficult for the federal government who’s controlling Brussels international. So it’s not only Ryanair’s fault, but still it would be fair of them to admit they are wrong … again. They will have to do it, because the law is very strict in Belgium about such things. In fact, they could lose their license and there’s nothing Ryanair or the French-speaking gov. could do about this. You should always remind that Sabena is NOT a low-fare airlinecompany, they admit this. So why still compare both? Than compare their prices with Virgin, Virgin Express etc.

Even if you think Ryanair is right, the belgian law system does not agree with Ryanair’s advertisements. Flying from Belgian means you’re obeing to belgian laws, not to some Irish laws.

Not the first crash

Since the plane was introduced 30 years ago, there were already 30 crashes of this type. That’s actually a lot, though the plane itself is quite safe, the maintenance is very poor in those smaller russian airliners. Especially for such long flights, I wouldn’t dare to fly unless with Aeroflot.

If you see an airplane wearing Aeroflot-marks, it doesn’t mean that the aircraft fies for aeroflot. Those Russian airline-companies simply don’t have the money to repaint them in their own sheme. That’s why it looks like Aeroflot is an unsafe company, but that’s untrue.

Condition of the Tupolev 154

Yeah the Tu 154 entered service around 1968, but there have been many crashes of this type since then. Lack of qualified personnel and maintenance made this airplanes become more dangerous. The TU 154 is the most numerous aircraft in the Russian civil aviation sector.
This aircraft was in service since 1986, not so old you would think, but it used to be an aircraft owned by Aeroflot (which as a better reputation than those smaller Russian airlinecompanies).

It’s sad that those people were killed, but such things also happen in western-Europe and America. The condition of the TU 154 now in service are much safer than those in service in the cold war.

Yeah right no money, the only one who does not have the money is sabena itself. Sunday at rock-werchter – not far from brussels international – i noticed their airplanes were the only ones flying so low, coz they lack the funds to maitain a hight of 30000 feet 🙂

Belgian government decided to stop negotiating with sr and sue them, best they can do

Citybird, also a belgian airlinecom. is also in huge debts

Swissair actually hates Sabena. They are maltreathing our airline for example the flight between Brussels and Joburg does not exist anymore because Swissair worked together with SAA, and there was no place for sabena anymore

If sabena is in the problems right now, that’s because of SR. They should be punished for this!

The 747-400 still looks better, especially the ones from BA. SAA uses them also for short range flights (i mean the 400 series)? Aren’t they too big for this kind of flights??

Swissair is the bad guy.

The company is already losing profits since 20 years but SR though It could change this situation. The couldn’t, but know they have to be fair, and stop wining about sabena being the cause of their own problems. Same with Air Liberté, also ownded by Swissair.

And Swissair planes look ugly compared to sabena’s blue scheme

I guess this is the end

The European Union has forbidden Belgium to invest again in Sabena, and SR announced that it will not buy the 40 % stocks of the government (of which they already had an agreement), hell theyr’re not even investing in the shares they have at this particularry moment.

What is the EU doing?? There is one airliner too much in Europe, and they rather see Sabena closing doors than Swissair.

Ooh, a women who loves belgian beer and is an aviation freak! Don’t see that much !

Well, Sabena will still be flying in the month september. If they are going bankrupt, than i guess it won’t be within the next year, as they still have a lot of comitments with other airliners like Citybird (who operate MD-11’s for Sabena). They’ll probably ask the judge to wait untill they found a new partner. Also, Belgian government will give the money when necessairy (SR has own problems), but now they are wining because they have other financial problems and they don’t want the public to know in what kind of mess they are envolved right now (depts, about 250 billion dollar). So they’ll wait untill the last moment, but they will give it anyway.
Minister for state companies R. Daems announced that he’s willing to invest in Sabena, if there’s still a future.
The problem is, what will they do with the SR-group?
Maybe SR is willing to sell all its stock back to the government, but that’s unlikely to happen.

Making a continental airline out of sabena maybe is the best option, but what are they going to do with all their new A-330’s, A-340’s, MD-11’s, A-320’s 🙁

sabena also operates its own food-service, hotels, carparks etc?? What will happen with them?

BA is actually a big competitior for United Airlines, AA and most of the big companies; i even think BA has the biggest fleet in the world !!!

Yeah sad for sabena, damn swissies! I’m so mad last time i didn’t even gave back the pellow and the headphone to swissair. The dog now uses the Swissair blanket. At least somebody is happy with the misery 🙂

neighbours!!

No serious (actually that was serious :-)), but also because KLM has a totally other fleet of Boeings, that’s why Sabena bought AB’s in the first place, to become a better partner for swissair, but since they have their own problems, it’s unlikely that they’re gonna help us

Maybe Sabena would be a good alternative as a European defence airline. In times of peace they could be used to transport government officials or VIP’s, in war to transport the troops.
