Michael Moore is a true product of American McDonald-culture. There’s no finesse in his movies. Bowling for columbine was a funny movie, I didn’t watch it like a would watch a documentary or news (though even “the news” can be a show as well). Personally, I prefer Matt Groening and Co’s idea of humor towards the American culture. Even South Park is better.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that there’s un underlying problem and that the facts are killings in America outnumber Europe by what … a hundred times?!! If you go on a visit to someone in Europe and he would tell you he has a gun in the house, most people would be scared though

Ohh and talking about Gigs, Bono is thinking about a Live Aid II with Coldplay, Radiohead, Oasis … Will it be the same without Bob Geldof?

Ill admit it, Ive never even heard of all the bands youve mentioned, except for the Pixies which Ive seen mentioned on this forum and had to do a yahoo search to find out who they were. I lived in Seattle in the mid to late 90s and can tell you that the image of them being a grunge/indie haven is a bit of a myth. They only have one alternative station called 107 The End, which plays crap reject grunge. The rest of the radio dial is filled with classic rock, they probably have about 10 classic rock stations just on FM. Then when I was in San Diego, they only have one heavy rock station that plays Tool, Creed and Metalica 24 hours a day, and a sort of lost alternative station whos stuck on Bob Marley.

Could be Brad, grunge has always been more popular in Europe than in the US. Pixies never ‘made’ it in the US, don’t know why, maybe because they didn’t have the ‘looks’. But as long as the US is exporting their good music, we can send our musical garbage back to the US (and they like it 😎 )

One more thing, are the Manic Street Preachers still performing, since they lost (literally) their bass-guitar player, must be already ten years ago though. How was that sorry again, great band though!!!!

Would love to see the Pogues too. In 1995, Pinkpop, the leadsinger, Shane MacGowan was so drunk, they had to carry him of stage. The band dumped him and he went solo. 😮

One more question. Best britpop band of the 90’s. Blur or Oasis? I prefer Blur, especially because Daman Albarn isn’t such an ***** as the gallagher-brothers. Love Gorillaz too.

Bald and forty? Nope, but i guess i compensate that with beer… and i don’t like U-Mass at all. Velouria, Gigantic, Wave of mutilation and Tame are the songs for me.

Tame, naaaah. U-mass sounds a bit Nirvana-like though. Or actually I should say, Nirvana sounds like U-mass 🙂

BTW, Kim is not bald I hope :p

Did they play Cecilia Ann as their opening song in Brazil? And did they end with “Where’s my mind?” I hope so. Lots of Doolittle and Surfa Rosa cause that’s what’s attracting the people, Trompe Le Monde and bossanova are great though. Best Pixies song must be U-mass and My Velouria.

Strange how many Pixies-fan are on this forum. So music does attract a certain kind of public, in this case bald, beer-drinking fourty-year old men (much like Francis himself), me being the exception 😎

Are they actually still in a fight? That was the reason I thought they broke up. Black said 3 years ago he was only thinking about a reunion when he needed money quick or when a family-member needs a new kidney. 😀

Charles old? Get out of here, he still looks incredibly sexy, especially on the new DVD with the way too small T-shirt and the short pants (he used to carry those big T-shirts). But that’s what gives the Pixies that extra thing: they aren’t rock-gods. They don’t have the grunge look or the David-Bowie-smile.

Actually the movie itself I thought of one-sided, too opinionated, extremist (leftwing), a true product of American policy. I would place Moore on the same level as Bush, a liar. I did laugh a few times watching Bowling for Columbine (saw it for the first time yesterday), however, I did realise this was NOT American life. In this since, Moore has a huge paradox in his movie, making it believe that all Americans are like those NRA-nuts and hence, make use of the same scare-tactics on as the media he’s accusing. What the USA needs right now are policy-makers who aren’t one-sided, so no Bush’s, but no liar’s like Moore too. I mean, the man has a huge penthouse in NY I think, earns millions etc. I hope he doesn’t represents America’s moderate wing.

USAF was fun for a while, however, the A-10 and the F-22 did very much the same. In fact, the best way to engage in a dogfight was to have a A-10 (gentlemen I sh!t you not) armed with 14 Sidewinders!!!!! So I wouldn’t call it a flight sim, more a Super Mario kind of arcade game. IAF and USAF were not developped by Jane’s but an Israeli company (subcontractors). Jane’s games are always realistic, but many people (and magazines) can’t appreciate it because graphics aren’t so advanced or just because it’s too darm difficult.

Also quite an ald game, but played it for hours was DID’s F22/Total Air War (1997/98), balanced between realism and fun. It even had AWACS-missions where you didn’t have to fly yourself, but could direct other planes. Unfortunatelly, quantity always won vs quality, so the 4 MiG-21’s were able to win from my 3 F-22’s.

The last thing Iraq needs is an air force right now. Once there will be central gov’t which is legitimised by the people, which I highly doubt, we can talk about rebuilding an air force. As for now, this questions remains irrelevant, not worthy a discussion, utopic crap.

I object to that statement. Poland may be a NATO-country on paper, it’s still a long way before it can activelly participate in “Kosovo-style” operations. The older Soviet-bloc airforce was mostlty used for the purpuse of air defence (and CAS) only. Even during the cold war, nato-countries like Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark took into account the possibility that they might use their airforce for another purpuse than air defence only, and were hence, multirole. So I wouldn’t put Poland nor any of these new eastern-bloc nations on top of that list, and not because of nationalistic feelings.
