On an Angolan website I found this:

Conclusion: The turning point was 1980. Before that the upper roundels were used together with the tricolor finflash. (but not on all aircraft as pictures show us)
from 1980 until 2011 the Yin-yang roundel was used with the star. After 2011 the star was lost (but not on all aircraft at the same time)
I guess with the flag it is the same timespan, 1975 to 1980 red black flag with yellow star. After 1980 the present day flag. Again not on all aircraft and not changed overnight as pictures proves.

now I have to find some time to update Angola. 😀

Thank you all for your input.

the PC-7 was posted a few years ago in a small air force Topic.

it is Angola but I don’t recognize the flag/finflash. Who has more Information? (period used, organization etc.)

The next pic is a Cuban MiG-21 in a movie about the Angola war. The finflash look like the one on the PC-7 but upside down.

I think the next picture is a new one here on the forum

Are there any other pictures known with this roundel or the one on the PC-7? Would be great to see more of this.

Lots of questions about Angola but I sure hope someone has answers. 😉

Hello Etienne. Due to lack of time I stopped translating my site. Also the one in Dutch will no longer be updated.

the times are changing unexpectedly. I’m again working on my site.

Just finished updating New Zealand on my website. A little summary below:

from 1943 to 1946 NZ used a roundel with the red circle painted red and sidebars added. The fuselage roundel had a yellow outer circle!

from 1946 to 1957 the RAF roundel was used (again)

in the early 50s NZ wanted his own roundel and adopted a white vern in the red circle. Diagonally from low left to upper right.

in 1958 the white was changed to silver. (Legend has it that one of the driving reasons was that the white stenciled fern leave could be mistaken for a white feather- the symbol of cowardice!)

in 1970 the kiwi was chosen for the roundels as it is still used today. The kiwi is always facing forward!
